We stayed here with a tour group. I was not a fan of the hotel at all. It was very outdated, in the middle of no where, and not close to anything. I would not recommend the hotel. The breakfast was also not that great.

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, the 3 restaurants cant provide a menu in English, Mandarine or any other language other than Japanese and despite the time of day you arrive you are required to make a booking despite being basically empty.
NO GYM, NO ROOM SERVICE, Grounds are very poorly maintained. Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED. Going to bed without an evening meal. Other Guests I spoke to had similar complaints.

Room tip: Try another Hotel

This hotel seems to live of conference and tour bus business and consequently the quality of service and provision is all based on low price. The interior has seen better days and the room was on the small size. Breakfast was very poor and budget level. The service was nothing special at all. cam' recommend this one.

We stayed in this hotel in mid of March. This hotel is huge...! It was beautiful and elegant...! We were given the tickets to stay in this hotel but it was too bad the dinner was not included!!

We tried to add on dinner but it was about ¥5000 each to add on all you can eat buffet. We thought it was too expensive so we gave up! But considering after we ate their breakfast buffet, we thought we should have eaten at this all you can eat restaurant!!

The taste of the breakfast was sophisticated, refined, and elegant. Well organized by the servers and management staff.

Hot spring was gorgeous! There were 3 type of hot spring bath inside, and 4 outside.

The only regretting thing was the Tatami room. Their tatami was getting old and every time I sat on them, old pieces of igusa came off and clung on my black pants...

However overall, the hotel was beautiful, hot spring was great, breakfast was delicious, and hotel service was excellent...!

Dear ryont,
Thank you very much for choosing THE HAMANAKO. This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary. For dinner, there are three restaurants, Japanese, Chinese and French as well as a Dinner Buffet on select days. Please do not hesitate to contact us for dinner reservations for your next stay. We are also glad to hear that you enjoyed the Hot Springs as well. Regarding the tatami in the Japanese style room, we apologize for the inconvenience. We are gradually renovating but there are many places where improvement has not been completed yet. We aim to continue to make improvements so that everyone is able to have a relaxing stay. Thank you for your valuable opinion and we hope to see you again in the future.

Nice upscale lobby, but not lavish. Friendly staff. Had the “western style” room. Very large room with 2 beds, also something like a sofa-bed, desk and 2 chairs, with enough room for another bed. Very small bathroom.
Some very noticeable stains on carpet, some on walls, some wall paper seams are peeling from the wall. The room could use some updating but it was good and clean overall. Nice place overall and good enough that I would be okay with staying here again if passing through that area.
There is a hot mineral water small pool, separate for men and women as no clothing allowed in pool.
Buffet breakfast was generally Asian choices except for eggs available as scrambled or omelot. As usual for Japan, eggs are undercooked with still liquid yolk.
