Nice upscale lobby, but not lavish. Friendly staff. Had the “western style” room. Very large room with 2 beds, also something like a sofa-bed, desk and 2 chairs, with enough room for another bed. Very small bathroom.
Some very noticeable stains on carpet, some on walls, some wall paper seams are peeling from the wall. The room could use some updating but it was good and clean overall. Nice place overall and good enough that I would be okay with staying here again if passing through that area.
There is a hot mineral water small pool, separate for men and women as no clothing allowed in pool.
Buffet breakfast was generally Asian choices except for eggs available as scrambled or omelot. As usual for Japan, eggs are undercooked with still liquid yolk.

Hamanako Royal hotel is best accessible by car. Although it provides some limited (2x per day) shuttle services to the train station and the city (hotel is very isolated), that is not sufficient to allow a traveller to move independently to explore the city, lake, coast etc. The hotel itself is comfortable enough however the bathroom was very small and outdated – type of Ibis hotel style. On the other hand the spa (onsent) is open till late (1a.m.), which was great since we returned late from our daily trips. The hotel provides western and Japanese style accommodation. The same apply to breakfast, but after a few days very boring. Not much to do at the hotel or surroundings, outside swimming pool was dilapidated and not in use, same applies to the tennis courts. I would only recommend to stay a day or two to explore the city of Hamamatsu, lake Hamana, a day trip to cape Irago perhaps (we did that, very nice). It´s not a resort to hang around and have a swim in the lake. Parking at the hotel was free and plenty.

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Hamanako Royal Hotel and for sharing your opinions about your stay with us.
The operation of the outdoor Pool, Ground Golf Course and Tennis Courts depend on both the season and the weather. As you have mentioned, the indoor activities are extremely limited. There are some activities available, but only during the busy season (summer, year end, etc). We will continue to strive to provide an enjoyable experience for all guests and consider various options to improve things.
Hamanako Royal Hotel is conveniently located near the center of Japan with ease of access to both Eastern and Western Japan, and we would like to invite you to stay with us again when traveling across the country.

We paid an extra charge , 5 $ per person plus 12$ for a cocktail or whiskey zxample and as we were 8 we paid 40$ just for " table charge " plus 8$ a beer " it s absolutely a shame
The hotel is nice but absolutely far from everything , the pool is dirty with algus , look at my pics and the breakfast not good for europeans , croissants have a butter bad taste , jam is poor quality

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Hamanako Royal Hotel and for sharing your opinions about your stay. We would like to apologize for the lack of information about the table charge in the bar and will work to make it clearer in the future. In Japan, Winter is off season for the pool and we would like to invite you back in Summer to enjoy the pool. We also thank you for your opinions about the Breakfast Buffet and will take them into consideration.

You have the opportunity to sleep Western or Japanese style. The furnishings are minimal but comfortable. There is also a hot spring experience for both men and women, but not together. The Japanese breakfast has a few Western selections but fruit and coffee for the more selective individuals.

I visited here as part of a group tour. We checked-in just in time to change for dinner & nothing else. They provided Japanese robe for us to wear to dinner. Our group of course got dressed up for the occasion. Private room for us. Dinner was great, traditional style.

The room, compared to the photos with the pretty warm lighting is definitely a little off. One of the photos here is close but reality-- seems a bit outdated. Very small bathroom but all is acceptable. The real star of this hotel I would assume is the hot baths. I hear it's awesome. Our friends went, we didn't. They provide options & all the bath amenities needed. Maybe next time.

1 issue might be-- a lot of tour groups book here & they would block traffic in the lobby.. lobby's filled with luggage all lined against the wall w/ time schedule of departure. Of course the group that suppose to leave wayyy before is still there vs the group that's ready to leave cannot... so you have lines of lugguage & I mean at least 10 groups+ by 25-30+ ppl per bus- all standing around waiting for the earlier groups to depart. They need a better system. We ended up carrying our own lugguge out to the car because all the buses would be lined up to pick up these groups.

Otherwise, comfortable hotel & good food.

Thank you for staying with us at the Hamanako Royal Hotel. We apologize for the congestion in the lobby due to the group tours. While we strive to check the arrival and departure times of all tour groups to ensure a smooth check-in/check-out experience, unfortunately there are times when things do not go as planned. Thank you for your valuable opinion and we will work to improve conditions in the future.
