I spent one night in this hotel and I've been surprised by overall quality.
Room is small for European standard, but bigger than most of Japanese ones, furniture are new and also style is appreciable. it's the first time I experience check in/out made by machine, a kind of ATM. Breakfast is in a japanese restaurant, impossible to enjoy for me.

As others have noted, this is a new, central & very reasonably priced business hotel. The main station is 2 minutes walk away, there is a large dept store in between & a convenience store at the hotel entrance. For the money I paid (under US$80 for a single clean room including a perfectly adequate breakfast) it is very hard to complain. Rooms are small but clean, quiet & most comfortable. At this price, there is no way I could get remotely similar hotel quality (room, service, location) back in Australia. Another writer's complaint about the breakfast is unfair. There are both Japanese and western selections - I assume he only looked on one side and did not see the bread, jams, sausages, etc opposite. My only concern is the room location (see tips).

Room Tip: For a quiet night, ask for a higher room facing away from the main street. The convenience store below opens 24/7 and with pedestrians walking past this busy station area until late at night, it may be a problem since the small window is not double-glazed. I had no problem but then I wore earplugs.

Stay in Daiwa Roynet Hotel, Hamamatsu Room 814 for 4 days, check in on Monday, October 10 - 2011 and check out on Friday, October 14 - 2011.

This is a brand new hotel, located only 2 minutes away by walking from Hamamatsu Station, 3 minutes from Act City Tower..this hotel is awesome, very2 affordable, top services, top hospitality, delicious food at the 1st fl. restaurant.

I'll be back here for sure, if there's another assignment for me to visit our headquarter office at Hamamatsu. And, also planning to take my lovely little family to Hamamatsu for a couple of days family vacations. Keep up da good job guys.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good view, I stay at 814 facing to Hamamatsu Post Office, nice view. And...don't forget to close your window & curtain before you fall asleep, or you'll be disturbed by the birds sounds and by it cold wind..

The Daiwa Roynet is one of the newest hotels in Hamamatsu - and it's good for a business trip. As with all of these type of hotels in Japan the rooms are small, but it's clean, functional and a decent place to stay. Facilities are basic (no hotel bar) and the breakfast is a little extreme - traditional Japanese style in the (very good) Japanese restaurant downstairs. Location is great though - close to all the bars and restaurants, the railway stations and with a choice of Starbucks branches within 3 minutes walk if you can't handle breakfast Sashimi! Not exciting, not particularly cool but perfectly decent.
