“superb location for a city hotel”
Reviewed July 31, 2012 via mobile

i stay for one week at this hotel, the room is small compaing to other hotels nearby, breakfast is perfect, soooooo japanese breakfast and i love it. interet connection is very slow for japan standard and there are no wifi available. the best things is this hotel is located on the very central location of hamamatsu, you can go anywhere within walking distance. god, i love the location. shop, eat and entertaiment is very easy to access.

by the way, the nameof this hotel is crown palais, not crawn palace, please revised.

hotel name now Crown Palais, in the center of Hamamatsu city.
easy access, 2min walking from bus station and shinkansen terminal
old hotel but still OK, clean, nice aircon, nice breakfast.
surrounding by mall, restaurant, and places for sightseeing.

Room Tip: ask for higher level room to have nice city view

I spent two nights recently in this hotel; the quality is below the average for Japanese style and I've been disappointed by low quality of furniture in the room; overall quality perception is low, only good point is dimension of the room, spacious enough. Very bad point is air conditioning, not possible to adjust, if on, too cold, if off very warm. No comment.

We only stayed at the Meitetsu Hotel for 1 night. Please be warned that the Meitetsu Hotel has changed its name recently to the Crown Palais, which we didn't know when we got there so that made it a lot harder to find. Ironically, it is extremely conveniently located directly outside the Hamamatsu station within a 2 minute walk. The service is excellent - the staff let us leave our luggage at the hotel even after we had checked out for no extra charge so that we could go to the kite fighting festival without having to lug our luggage around.
For the price, and location, it was definitely worth it and we would stay here again.
The only cons were that the room was a little small (however this is quite typical of hotels in Japan) and that the room smelled of smoking/cigarettes despite the fact that it was meant to be a non-smoking room.
I highly recommend visiting Hamamatsu during their Kite fighting festival that is held annually between 3rd-5th May. The hotel is conveniently located opposite where most of the night-time festivities are held and is only a short 5 minute walk from where you can pay to catch the shuttle bus that takes you directly to the sand dunes where the kite fighting contest is held.
All-in-all, we very much enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was pretty good overall. It was definitely very nicely located for a family. Restaurants are closely located, so was the Shinkansen. The hotel was a little overpriced for being located in Hamamatsu City. The breakfast was just fantastic, both western and Japanese stuff was there. My son loved the miso soup for breakfast. I would definitely go back there since there is not much choice in Hamamatsu City for hotels.
