The park is very large, with a newer swing set for the kids. Tennis courts, hiking, fishing, excellent veiws. The lodge is very nice and though the rooms could use some updates it was comfy. There is also a restraint in the lodge but dinner is rather pricy for a state park. Breakfast and dinner are not d expensive.

We hiked the rail trail and it was a very nice, scenic hike. The park is a bit difficult to find, and driving to the rail trail location includes a long stretch of winding road barely wide enough for one car. I would suggest parking at the top and taking the tram down to the trail.

We are driving from Michigan to North Carolina and stopped here for a couple hours . Totally worth the time, the drive to the park alone was worth the time. Fun twisty mountain drive. We rode the tram down and then took the boat ride. It was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the people. Super friendly, nice crowd.

Although it was raining and foggy, we still enjoyed the views, tram and the boat ride which took you to up to the New River Gorge Bridge. On the return trip you could see the tunnel through the mountain that runs water for the hydro electric plant. Nice lunch at the hotel.

If you want a great way to spend a morning or afternoon in nature, this is a great park for you. Awesome views of the gorge and river, hiking trails, souvenir store, picnic facilities.
