We visited Adrift today for lunch today after being recommended by a bookseller at Anacortes' local independent bookseller, an always good place in any town for smart, discerning recommendations on the best place to eat in that town. There are only our - and maybe one or two more - things I know about this place. First, my wife loved her fish tacos. Second, I loved my Skagit Burger. Third, the young woman who serves as maitre'd does a great job moving a waiting line and parking diners. Fourth, during a smoke break of a few minutes before our lunch was, despite a packed house, quickly served told me one of the staff told me that all the food was made from scratch, including the hamburger buns he'd just put in the oven. "Home grown and homemdade in Skagit or the San Juans," he said. The place reminded me of the time I found a $100 bill on the sidewalk. You just plain get lucky some time and today, at Adrift, we did. Try it. Pretty sure you're going to like it.
