“Spruced Up Now With the Best Active Water View in Anacortes”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

We often enjoyed the terrific macadamia nut crusted halibut at the "old Randy's" and wondered over the years, why Anacortes' best active view restaurant didn't spruce up the interior to compete with other new downtown restaurants (with no water view). We heard a new owner had remodeled the restaurant and stopped in during Happy Hour for a drink on the sunny deck a few weeks ago. We noticed the new neat and trim new look in the downstairs restaurant, and construction on an outside-glass wind barrier. The waiter said it would be ready soon. Weeks later, we made reservations for dinner n the downstairs restaurant on a Saturday night. But somehow our name never made it into the book. The hostess said no problem and right away showed us to a table. We enjoyed watching the boat traffic on the Channel and the peaceful Guemes Island view. The restaurant was half full with mostly seniors, probably like us, checking it out. The menu is new, and the prices for both drinks and food seem a shade cheaper than other downtown restaurants. We ordered the dinner specials of Prime Rib and a Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut. The portions were not huge which pleased both of us. My companion had no complaints about his beef, but I remember the "old Randy's" Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut and was disappointed. No evidence of nuts in the crust plus my veggies were overcooked. Maybe the regular chef had the night off. My dinner was just O.K. We decided we'll go back and retry the food when the patio construction is finished, and I'll order something different from the menu.

“Anniversary Trip”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

We found this place by word of one of the locals. I am not shy about asking for recommendations for places to eat and after being disappointed the night before, I wanted something better.
Well, this was it! For the locals, they would know it as the old Rick's Pier 61. But, it has been made over and has a new name.
The food was GREAT. We were the only ones there and the only reason I can guess as to why is that it was a Monday night.
I would strongly suggest this place to everyone I know, whether local or tourist. There is something for everyone on the menu, from salads and sandwiches to burgers and seafood and steaks.
We were there in the later evening and were given a private show from the local wild life. A family of otters was swimming in the cove and a large blue heron flew in and rested on the rocks below our table and window. It was a lovely evening as we watched these and the boats while we ate.

“Place with a new name”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

Wanted some of Pier 61's great clam chowder and was surprised that they had changed their name. They also had upgraded the place very nicely. I still like looking out at the water while we eat. And the clam chowder was much appreciated. as usual.

We are glad that they are there and not crowded. The gps does have trouble finding the place though.

“Nice Place and a New Menu”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

The macadamia encrusted halibut was the special and it was wonderful. Four of us ate there tonight and three had the special. I think the food and service is very good. Prices are about average for the area.
