“Loved it...Wish we could have stayed longer.”
Reviewed January 15, 2011

Just got back from an over-nighter at the Majestic while in town celebrating the grand opening of the new Anthony's restaurant just four blocks away at the Cap Sante Marina.
Staff at the hotel were all very "smal town friendly". Room were nicely decorated with "period- furniture" had more than ample room. (we statyed in a Boardroom suite on the 4th floor) Other goodies included a quaint little bar off the lobby with a happy hour menu, to a wonderful continental breakfast in the morning that was included in the room cost.
Anacortes is a great little town for "treasure hunting" in all of it's cool little shops right outside the doors of the hotel.
Highly recommend for a getaway weekend.
Thanks Majestic! We'll definately be back for a longer stay soon.

Lovely hotel. Attended a family wedding there which they handled very well. Did not eat at the restaurant, but a lovely (and delicious) brunch was served to wedding guests. Other days, the included breakfast was just a typical cold breakfast bar -- fine, but nothing special, although the room was lovely and the coffee was great!. Mom and I had spa treatments -- very nice. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Have to mention that the window covering was shutters, so the room was not dark. Also, we did not encounter it, but they do warn you that since it is on the main street there could be noise some nights. Overall, we had a great experience.

My husband and I visited Annacortes for the first time, the town is small and charming. We were looking so forward to staying at the Majestic Inn, from the pictures it looked like a really nice hotel with the price per night to match, but we were so disappointed when we arrived. The staff was friendly enough, but the rooms where practically falling apart. The walls were paper thin, you could hear everything in the hall ways and above you. When a door room is shut the entire hotel vibrates. There was no A/C in the room and it was 98 F outside, so we were cooking in our room. The toilet paper holder was broken, the hair dryer was dirty and sticky, the sink was ready to fall off it's pedestal. We brought our own hair dryer just incase, but when we plugged it into the wall, the outlet didn't even work. The paint was peeling off the base boards, and dust collected in and around the cracks of it, and the washroom door. The continental breakfast is included with the hotel rate, but when we went down to enjoy breakfast, there was stale pastry and an empty coffee pot. We initially planned to stay and prepaid for two days, but we couldn't bare it any longer. We checked out a day ahead of schedule and forfeited one night's stay. What a shame, for such a Heritage Building to be so neglected. The hotel could have been a first class hotel if they had paid attention to some small details. We will not be staying here ever again. When we checked out early, no one even bothered to ask us how our stay was and why we decided to leave early. Needless to say they probably didn't care or they would have asked. It was supposed to be a nice vacation rest stop, but it was the worst hotel we've ever stayed in through the entire vacation.

Our first stay at the Majestic was a pleasant experience to say the least. Darla at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. We were surprised at how nicley decorated the hotel was, amazinging towels and well appointed room. There is a bit of road noise - but to be fair the location is right in the heart of town. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was very good and the service was also very good. We will certainly stay there again.

In the first place, this is an architecturally interesting building in the historic part of downtown Anacortes. The ambiance and authenticity are really a part of the total experience. Secondly, it is top drawer in every respect. Upscale decor, material and furnishings (think Restoration Hardware), spa quality amenities, luxurious linens, plush towels, lovely robes, down comforters set a tone that is consistent throughout. The staff is efficient and accommodating. The room descriptions on the hotel website are completely accurate. If anything, they are overly modest because they do not mention that there is a fifth floor cupola with comfortable chairs, windows on all sides, and the best view in Anacortes -- which, it can fairly be said, has some of the best views in the country. There is no mention of the polished marble floors, high ceilings or of the impeccable cleanliness and attention to detail throughout. And while the fourth floor suites are indeed stunning with those two enormous bathrooms, shower the size of a walk-in closet and a mammoth jacuzzi in the alternate bathroom, the less elaborate rooms are also very nice with high ceilings and a feeling of light and air. I walked through every level of room category and satisfied myself that any one of them would be a pleasure to stay in. Of course, no doubt about it, that suite is really, really something special. And I mean special! Whew!
The breakfast items are served in the very lovely garden room, surrounded by French doors and windows, with a high ceiling, a stunning brass chandlier, elegant chairs and crisp linen. This is the same room that is available for "event" functions and would be perfect for a wedding dinner. The Bistro, across the lobby, is more intimate, but shares the same kitchen and offers delicious meals at quite a reasonable price. The breakfast is very nice -- large chunks of ripe, fresh fruit, a serving basket filled with freshly baked scones and croissants, and well as bagels and English muffins, plenty of butter and fancy jams, coffee, juice, milk, and the best granola, house made, that I have every tasted in my life! I wish they would sell it!
The spa is a dream with its enormous eucalyptus scented steam room kept to the perfect temperature, piles of thick towels, lovely amenities, a full menu of spa services, a large and beautifully furnished "relaxation room" and some very lavish teas and healthful "nibbles". I had a massage as part of a "package" and let me assure you, it did not disappoint!
The Majestic is so much more than merely "lodging" and it would be a shame to treat it that way. It made a perfect weekend to drive up from Seattle, enjoy a hike at Ebey's Landing on the trip north, and then check in to the Majestic for time relaxing on the deck in our room, a massage, a lovely dinner, heavenly bed, huge TV's with HBO, a satisfying breakfast in the beautiful dining room, more time out on the deck just drinking in the view of water and snow capped mountains, and then some hiking in Washington Park after a tour of the interesting old buildings and shops on Commercial Street.. It made for a lavish and memorable week-end of the best of indoors and outdoors. No ferry lines, no stress, no crowds, and none of the downside of a trip to the San Juans, but with the same weather and views and one of the pleasantest and most remarkable stays in the Pacific Northwest.
The Majestic Inn is very, very special and no sooner had I left but I began plotting how and when I might return for an encore.

While the lobby & restaurant/banquet areas were very attractive, we were somewhat disappointed to see the Inn was located on the main street - the advertising photo gives the impression that the Inn is set back on a grassed area not right on the corner of two streets - might want to change that picture... We were greeted by a delightful staff member, Darcy, who whenever we met her throughout the weekend, provided an outstanding example of what hospitality service should be - we could not say that of the other young lady at the front desk when we encountered her - she seemed not to care one way or the other about the guests. Our other good experience was with our waitress, Georgia, in the pub/restaurant - she made a great impression on us and our meal was excellent. The guest room was pleasant but we faced the shipyard and the neighbouring pub was noisy, especially after closing - although it was Saturday night so understandable. While we did enjoy our visit, believe the room rate was a little too high for the value.
