“a perfect afternoon”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

We took in the whale watch trip on our way up to Vancouver and couldn't have been a better time. Besides seeing many orkas we were treated to many different bird sightings and some seals on a smooth ride. The Captain and crew were helpful,l fun and informative. The boat wasn't over crowded and a crew member told me they made a point of not filling their boats to capacity to ensure a pleasant day for all. BTW since you are in Antacortes take the time to walk around a cute little town.

“Sighted at last”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

We travelled all the way from South Africa in the hopes of kayaking with killer whales. We were very early in the season and unfortunately didn't see any whales on the kayaks.
Our last day in Anacortes we made a last ditch attempt to see orcas in the wild and were able to book a cruise with Captain Monte aboard the Mystic Sea.
We had an amazing time as he and the crew travelled many miles to find the orcas.
We spotted some transients after about an hour of leaving the harbour. We wondered if the skipper would then return to shore. We were very glad when we were told that members of the L-Pod had been spotted in Canadian waters and we forged ahead to see even more orcas.
It was such a great way to end our time of adventure. The crew members were awesome too. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this operator. They were very professional and allowed us to watch the whales in a whale-friendly fashion. We felt like we got more than our money's worth as we only got back to the harbour at about 17:00 that afternoon.

“Incredible Trip”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

The Mystic Sea tour was the hightlight of our Anacortes visit. We lucked out picking a day that was warm and with clear skies. However, we were delighted with the service, the choice of route that our captain took us, as well as those guests touring with us that day. The crew was so friendly, so professional by giving such insight and knowledge of the nature around us. We learned so much from the crew about whales and their habitat. We received an added attraction that the other boat didn't. Other tour boats chose to head immediately out to watch the Orcas, but our captain took us close to one of the islands to see eagles, seals, and even massive amount of starfish along the coastal rocks. Later, when we had thought that we had our fill of whale watching, our captain took us near shore again and pointed out a mother whale in the process of teaching her young how to catch fish. What a treat! We would highly recommend chosing the Mystic Sea Whale Tours. Again, great service and superb knowledge.

“Watching whales with bird watching in mind; and got tons of both world :)”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

There were 16 birders in our group on the watching boat....with hope to see some pelagic birds. In fact, we didn't pay much of attention on whales but there was no way to avoid it. There were more than 25 killer whales from various view points (near, far, jumping up, etc.). Bald eagles are flying close to short. Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, and Dolphins are numerous.

Captain was very clear in his announcement when there was whale (or any wildlife sightings). Food service was fantastic! Each attendent was given a wood whale dollar to spend on food or souvenir. I just kep the wood dollar as a souvenir!

BTW, for people who need frequent bathroom stops (like me), both restrooms are very clean and in great shape.

This was a great "wildlife watching" experience with tons of whales and more.

What a great tour! We were looking for a company that would find us whales and boy, did these guys deliver! There were a few things that were standout. First, the ease of driving to anacortes and getting directly on the boat - no other ferry rides. Next, the boat was smaller than the overstuffed tourist traps. We were 5 and had a roomy booth to ourselves. Outside viewing was amazing and relaxed - no jockeying for rail space and overcrowded decks. The captain was a knowledgeable and witty lifer - he and his son knew the area, where the whales were, and how to get close to them and cut the engines to allow us to co-exist. So we didn't just see whales - we hung out with them (including a male, femal and baby who surfaced multiple times near our boat!). I had just had surgery and they had a wheelchair and were very accommodating and constantly asking if I were ok. Whales, space and kindness - Orcabulous! We will be back
