New Year’s Eve found us cozily celebrating in the Valley of Giants in the Quinault Rain Forest. The weather couldn’t have been more inspirational as Janus-like, we reflected back over the old year on December 31st, and resolved to be better people in the new year ahead on January 1st.we The fog on the lake lifted on the 2nd and we had a glorious last day of our short stay.
Lochaerie Resort is perfectly situated for hiking in the primordial forest and our drive around the lake afforded photos of snow-capped peaks, moss-covered giants, and white-rumped elk.
Our sweet cabin was named Angeles. It was a perfect home away from home, clean and cozy and sweetly romantic. The two of us we’re happy to snuggle in the full-size bed, and we appreciated the pillow-top mattress.
So many details of rustic chic: I loved the cabin’s red painted floors, the wood burning stove, rock fireplace, and braided rugs. The kitchen was just big enough for our simple meals. It has a stainless steel counter, high porcelain sink, calico curtains, and yellow wainscoting.
Yes, the bathroom is teeny, the water pressure lacking, and clean towels scant, but we really did love it.
I will return; I look forward to happily spending more quality time-- watching the lake from the bedroom window in this cozy love nest just perfect for romance.More
