“Hidden gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

It can be hard to find a restaurant that has something for everyone -- when everyone expects an excellent meal. Tallula's reliably turns out exceptional and unique appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and with a constantly changing menu, you rarely have the same things on different visits.

“Another outstanding meal!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

Dinner again with family. Was able to be accommodated by the staff at the last minute. Sat near front of the restaurant which is just great space, interesting decor and rehab. Not terribly load even for a Friday night. Selected the pork dish which was prepared perfectly including the sauces and vegetables. Even in the fall there is an effort to use local fresh ingredients. The server was attentive, pleasant, and knowledgable. This restaurant should be higher rated.

“Delicious food with a Southern flare!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

Great service.
Great seasonal dishes, menu changes with each season.
Fresh, local produce and farm raised meats.
(Cheese grits are awesome!)
Homemade desserts and ice cream. Very innovative and challenging to your taste buds with mixes of flavors and textures.
Always a good idea to make reservations.

“Great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

Enjoyed dinner last week at Tallula. Service was consistent and attentive. The space was eclectic. Sat in a booth near the back where you could see the kitchen. Not too loud even for a Friday night.
Wait staff accommodated me with a double order of an appetizer of oysters. Food was fantastic and the presentation was exceptional. Lots of repeat customers based on conversations with wiat staff who remembered my family who lives in the area.

“Exceptional experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2012

Our experience at Tallula was probably not something that everyone would be able to do. We were taken there by some friends from the area who were 'regulars.' Our host asked to speak to the chef and told him 'a charcuterie, four starters, four entrees and four desserts with appropriate wines.' The chef asked if we had any food allergies or if there were things we don't eat (we don't eat Brussels Sprouts, also known as 'little green balls of death' which weren't in season anyway). The charcuterie was excellent with some nicely made salamis (in-house). I can't remember all of the starters and they aren't listed on the menu, but we had fried green tomatoes (wonderful and not greasy), and summer vegetable crudo. For mains we had soft shell crab spaghetti - the spaghetti was 'al dente' just like it should be, pan roasted chicken and beef tongue. The manager poured half glasses of wine with each course. For dessert we had vanilla cheesecake with apricot sorbet - and gave up. The service was excellent, the food exceptional. The portions are generous, but not overwhelming.
