This is our favorite Melting Pot! Have been here many times and always had a good experience. This time we have a "living social" coupon and wondered if it would be different due to that - it was the same good service and great food. Another enjoyable experience.

We had eaten a few times at the Melting Pot in DC, and found it ok, but too expensive, too dungeon-like, and not great service. So we went only for a very special treat for the children, who loved it.

Well, the DC one closed and there was an 18th birthday request so we made the hike out to Arlington- and got a happy surprise. Although it is in a non-descript office building, the restaurant itself was pleasant. They have nice little alcoves for couples, so you sit at right angles to each other- clearly designed to be a bit private and cosy for couples. We were four and in a high backed booth. We couldn't hear any other conversations, so it felt more private than you would expect.

The menu has been updated a bit, but the main event is still choosing which fondues you want. For 4 of us we had 2 orders of the 4 course menu, plus an extra portion of the cheese fondue. Everybody ate their fill, was very satisfied, and there were only a few bits left over. If you had bigger eaters you might want a third of the meat course as well. A good rule of thumb is order at least one fewer than the number of people in your group- there is a *lot* of food. One warning: put the potatoes in the moment that you get them - they take a long time to cook! also, to our huge surprise, the cookies'n'cream fondue was great- the description put the adults off, but we got it to please the birthday girl, but in fact the dark chocolate more than offsets the bit of marshmallow fluff that gets stirred into it. The classic milk chocolate was fine, but rather dull in comparison.

All in all, a happy surprise

Everything we had was excellent, including the salads, and the service was good.

It's just a fun night for a date. A little pricey, but delicious! Be prepared to stay there a few hours for dinner!

We brought a group of teenagers here to celebrate a birthday. They were seated at long table in a private room (which had two tables but no one used the other one) and we had a booth outside of their room. This arrangement worked out well. The same waiter served all of us and he was outstanding. The decor was very nice and the seats comfortable.

We each ordered the Four Course Experience. The cheese course was better than I expected. The salads weren't very distinctive but still very good. The meat provided for the main course was good quality. I had the steak lovers meal but in retrospect I think it would have been better to order one of the other choices that had more variety because after cooking, the meat all tasted pretty similar. The chocolate dessert course was fantastic!

Regarding cooking the main course: the "seasoned court bouillion" which was the standard option (no upcharge) was pretty bland. Ordering one of the other options was an additional charge for each cooking pot. This adds up quickly for a large party. Since the cooking liquid is an essential part of the meal, I think it would be more appropriate to offer the choices without the expensive surcharge. The dipping sauces that came with this course were delicious.

Among our large group we had a number of food restrictions (gluten-free, nut allergy, etc.). The waiter was great about informing us of which options to avoid and he separated out the things that each person couldn't eat.

We paid $25 extra for three roses, a balloon, and a picture in a frame. The roses and balloon were provided but no one took a picture or gave us any frame.

The price is high; it's not something most people would want to do all the time but an appropriate and unique special-occasion restaurant.

We took our two children here while on vacation in D.C. The service was great. The food was mediocre. Very expensive. Not a lot of food on plates. We all left hungry.
