I thought we could climb to the top of this, but it was locked when we visited. We did hear the bells and the tulips in April were lovely. Nice stop on our walk between the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

Great place to visit on a sunny day and maybe bring a picnic too. It has the best view of the DC monuments, day or night, and a great place to watch the fireplace on July 4th. You have to come early for this or you will not find a place to sit or stand!

This is a great place to just stop and relax after you visit Arlington cemetery. The flower in from of the bells where beautiful. The great part about this place is its not to crowded.

Directly from the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, walk just a minute south to the Netherlands Carillon. (Both the war memorial and carillon are National Park Service sites administered by the George Washington Memorial Parkway.) If you can plan ahead, you can call 703.289.2500 and ask if a Park Ranger could take you on a carillon tour. The top of the carillon provides the hands-down best view of the nation's capital! After visiting the carillon, you can continue to walk a couple minutes south and you can enter directly via a pedestrian trail into Arlington National Cemetery.

From the Marine Memorial (Iwo Jima) and the Netherlands Carillon you have the best view of Washington, D.C. It's the one you see the photos of where the Lincoln, Monument and Capitol are lined up with full moon in background. Go up there to the Easter Sunrise Service and watch the sunrise over the city. Go to one of the free concerts there by the Marine Band. Take photos. But mostly, give thanks to the Marine's who have sacrificed their lives for us and who have defended those who cannot defend themselves. It's a beautiful park and next to Arlington Cemetery. So stop by and see both. Worth the visit.
