Reviewed September 7, 2012

Great happy hour, very interesting cocktail specials. Sushi hit the spot. Nachos were different but tasty.

“Outstanding location and setting for an evening drink...”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

In Arlington, Clarendon Blvd., you find this restaurant with a lot of parking, a great front patio with ample room (no crowded mess of tables), good service, food and drinks. We were there two nights in a row; first night: Red Snapper Nigiri (so so); Salmon Nigiri (very good) and glasses of Italian Pinot Grigio and Argentinean Malbec (excellent). Second night: Salmon Avocado Roll in Brown Rice (very good) with glasses of a German Riesling and (again) Argentinean Malbec . The best time: in the evening hours...
Highly recommended!

“Hip Sushi”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

Sushi Rock has not only good sushi - but a hip and happening atmosphere. Great outdoor seating when its nice outside - and easy walkable location for those living in the Courthouse area.
Be sure to enjoy the happy hour special rolls.

“Fun concept; average sushi”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

First time at the restaurant. I get the concept. It is apparently a chain. The atmosphere lived up to the concept. Modern, rock memorabilia, pretty open, plenty of bar space. I liked the atmosphere for what it was supposed to be. Most food items have rock band names, sometimes a bit too cutesy. The Washington Caps are said to sometimes hang out here, i guess as it is down the street from their Kettler practice facility. Prices were reasonable and portions very reasonable. They have outside tables, which is a plus but we sat inside.

It was NOT crowded at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night in Arlington, which surprised me. The service was very friendly, genuine, attentive and good - we had Joshua. He seemed to be seating people and at least serving some tables. The food came quickly. That, and the average food quality, made me wonder if they had some things pre-prepared.

The edamame (Sex Pistols), seaweed salad and miso soup were good, nothing special. the "Light My Fire" (crunchy shrimp + spicy tuna + cilantro + spicy aioli) was good but the flavors not too distinct. The spicy tuna roll, and avocado cucumber roll fine (and they do have brown rice, which is good for those wanting it). The Aqua Lung (soft shell crab + cucumber + scallion + avocado + black tobiko + red tobiko + spicy jabanero sauce + jalapeño japanese mayo) was large, crispy and nice. I didn't like the "Les Paul Sliders" (2) - kobe burgers + provolone cheese + yuzu wasabi slaw. The 2 were larger than normal sliders, butI at $10.50, really doubt it was Kobe beef. It tasted more like some (unpleasantly) gamey red meat - bison?? old beef?? the provolone was a nice touch but the slaw was disappointingly bland and i didn't taste the wasabi or heat it should have brought - from its description and use of ingredients. The sushi rice was not warm as it should have been. this, the unremarkable taste and the speed of delivery of the order to the table made me think - pre-prepared at least in part??

I'd go back to Sushi Rock for nice hosts, drinks and apps, but won't expect that it is a great place to go for great or distinct Sushi. And we found street parking nearby!
