The pride that the soldier takes in protecting this memorial and knowing all the names of those who were killed on 9/11 is an amazing tribute. The soldier tells how the book of names came about and a little piece of knowledge on each person. You really feel the overwhelming sense of loss there.

A must see and experience the feelings when you realize the sacrifices and losses of the 9/11 attack.

I have been to all 3 Memorial Crash sites from 9/11 and the Pentagon Memorial is the most reflective and meaningful of them all. This was my second visit and we did the cell phone narrative explanation, which was wonderful. I don't remember that from my visit 2 years ago. Every American should visit this Memorial

This memorial to the victims of 9/11 is moving and calming at the same time. It is quite out of the way and bear in mind that if you are taking the subway from DC, you will still need to walk around the Pentagon (a LARGE building) to get to the memorial. In my opinion, it's worth the effort to get here. I highly recommend calling the phone number listed at the entrance to access the free audio guide as this greatly enhances the experience. There are benches representing the victims with flowing water under each one. The in-pointing benches represent the victims who were on the plane while the out-pointing benches represent the victims who where in the Pentagon.
