I'm one month in to a roughly 5 month stay while I relocate from NY to DC. The hotel is a nice, 10-minute walk to my Crystal City office and the full, hot breakfast served 7 days a week is an excellent way to start each day. The 3-night a week "manager's reception" makes for an adequate dinner most nights, and the up to 2 free beers or wines offered with the meal are a nice touch. The dinners are fairly repetitive each week, but, dining solo, I can't complain given that it's free and eating anywhere else in Crystal City would be less convenient and more expensive. The hotel is also attached to the Renaissance which has it's own bar and restaurant, so on the nights that the Residence Inn doesn't offer dinner, the Renaissance makes for a decent alternative. Crystal City also has numerous chain and "mom & pop" restaurants, so the variety in the area is satisfactory. If one really wants to get out and explore, the hotel has a free shuttle to the Crystal City Metro stop, and from there the entire DC area is available.
The hotel room is quite nice, and being just 2-years old, the property is in great condition and well-appointed. The gym and pool are shared by the Renaissance and are quite sizeable and nice. My king-bed suite has a living area, a small space for in-room dining, and a decent kitchen with microwave, full sized refrigerator, and 2-burner stove. The kitchen also has a dishwasher and coffee maker and full-size sink and is appointed with dishes, utensils and pots and pans, if I ever wanted to cook. The hotel will also do your grocery shopping for you. If you leave your list with the front desk by 9 am, they'll make your purchases and stock your fridge an pantry and simply bill your room for the cost of the food. The bathroom is sufficient and quite clean, with a combination tub/shower and toilet separated from the sink area. The living area has a couch and club chair and the TV swivels so it can be viewed from the bed or the living area or kitchen/dining area.
The staff has been terrific and recognizes me as a long-term guest each day. Parking is in the building and quite convenient. The access to Crystal City via the hotel shuttle is great, as is the access to DCA via the Residence Inn shuttle that runs 3 times each hour. All in all, this property is exceptional and should be considered by anyone needing long-term accommodations or even just for a night or two, especially if you need easy access to Reagan National Airport.
