It is located in Arlington, Virginia, adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon. Since its opening, it has been a place of honor and remembrance. It offers a place for the community to learn and appreciate the rich history of the AF through displays, AF Band performances, Memorial/Veterans Day commemorations and veteran-related events.

It's a very beautiful structure and the view of the DC area are very nice from there also.

This beautiful structure should be enjoyed from a distance as part of the DC skyline, never as a destination. That wasn't the intent of the designer, so don't try to visit. The parking around the area (The Navy Annex building) is horrible, and when you get there, all you do is walk around the structure.

The Air Force memorial features three silver spires that are inspired by the starburst formation created by flumes of smoke from jets as they separate as one would view in a flying demonstration by the Thunderbirds. This is a memorial that really grows on you and warrants repeat visits. In the Spring and Summer the Air Force bands provide free concerts regularly but the days and times have changed annually so check before you go; from the platform at the base of the three spires, you will be rewarded with the most beautiful view of Washington monuments you will not see anywhere else - from the National cathedral to the Washington Monument, to the Lincoln - especially beautiful at night. This is a locals favorite spot for viewing the fireworks on the 4th of July where you will also get to hear the Air Force concert and not deal with the crowds at the Mall downtown. Additionally, everywhere you look across the horizon you will see fireworks from neighboring communities in addition to the main fireworks in DC. The Memorial honors our Air Force and Air Corps veterans and concerts in particular are well attended by veterans of our wars who are always recognized by the bands and the other attendees. The memorial also overlooks the Pentagon and from that vantage point you are facing the side of the Pentagon impacted by the terrorist attack of 9-11. The hillside below the memorial was filled with flowers and mementos in the days and weeks that followed 9-11 along with the hundreds of people who came to the hill to view the sight of the terrorist attack and services are held on 9-11 in remembrance of those lost and in honor of our brave first responders.

I find this monument to be one of the most spectacular to view in the city. The only downside to witnessing this great memorial are having to see the old World War 2 military buildings that stand behind the silver spires of the USAF monument. So many billions of dollars have been spent in the past 40 years for new government buildings in the DC area and yet the folks in charge could not make a sensible decision to dismantle these ugly structures & replace them with either a park (or give the land to Arlington Cemetary for more graves) or use the property for a modern office building (if that is what is really needed).
