The staff at the Inn were pleasant, courteous, and most helpful. The information we received by phone before booking was accurate. When we arrived in Arlington we could not find the Inn. I called the desk twice and the desk attendant was again courteous and very helpful. The room was adequate and clean. We were within walking distance of food and gas that we needed. The Inn has a bus service to DC. We found it close enough to drive over the bridge to tour DC. My family and I would stay at the Inn again if we were in the area. Clean, good price, and convenient.

Three of us (two adults and one teen) stayed at this old style motor hotel at the beginning of July for 4 nights. We were there to visit my elderly mother-in-law and my brother-in-law who live in Arlington but also to squeeze in a little sightseeing. The price was much lower than anything else in the neighbourhood but we were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were spotless, freshly painted, and the furniture and bedding were new. The only small complaint might be that there was no shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries. I would not stay here if you travel with a lot of luggage as this is not a very spacious room. Breakfast was adequate- OJ, coffee, bagels (cream cheese and jam), and donuts. I was very offended by the couple who were complaining bitterly about the lack of any donuts and juice 10 minutes before the end of breakfast time. The owner was nice enough to bring out more juice for them. THe outside "hallways" look original and probably need replacing soon.Metro stop less than 10 minutes away but if you are walkers like us- Georgetown is only 20 minutes away, White House about 1 hr and Smithsonian about 1-1/2 hr walk. Spy Museum a must! Some small restaurants near the motel- Piola (?) good pizza place, Asia Cafe, and Santa Fe Cafe.

This was the best-priced hotel for a family of 4 (on a budget) that I could find in walking distance of the Metro. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean with ice-cold a/c (we stayed in July during a heat wave!). Yes, there are lower-income apartments next door but all was quiet when we were there. We did not have problems with any type of noise even with the busy Arlington Blvd. By the way, the hotel is actually located on Fairfax Dr. which has a nice sidewalk and is minutes away walking to the very cool Rosslyn district. We took the free shuttle in the am to the Metro but walked back to hotel later in the pm. Do get up early for the free breakfast as the donuts go fast! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget who still wants to get a clean room with the basic amenities (nice tv, cute bathroom with hairdrier and even magnified mirror). And again the location was truly convenient for anyone wanting to walk or use public transport.

When I first stayed in this hotel in 2004, it was not because it was impressive, but because I was between the rock of incredibly expensive hotels in the Washington DC area and hard place of nowhere else that had rooms available. I was pleasantly surprised back then and have stayed there three different times since, usually for three or four nights, as recently as October 2006.

In keeping with the trend to rip off travelers for an overnight stay and a bed & bath, Washington DC hotels have doubled rates since 2004 and they are still getting packed. So why not? Apparently business travelers and tourists pay it. The Inn at Rosslyn is no exception. In 2004, I paid $80 a night. Last year, it was $130 and that was at government rates.

The hotel is very old and was probably a chain in its day, (It was previously called "Motel 50" I think), but the current owners have tried to keep it up and the rooms I have stayed in have all been comfortable and clean. Sooner or later it will be torn down for a highrise.

Breakfast is very simple, but a cut above most cheaper hotels and very casual with food and beverages set out in the tiny office. There is no place to sit and eat, so I take it back to the room.

Also on the plus side is that one can walk to Ft Meyer, downtown Arlington or the nearby Metro. There are stores, including a super market, within a few blocks. The area is more or less upscale residences with several more costly hotels (Marriott Courtyard, Hyatt, etc), nearby.

If you have luggage, the hotel has a shuttle van and in the past they have been very willing to pick me up at the Metro station. I always tip the driver. This helps.

If you have not used the Metro in the past, allow time to stand and puzzle out the ticket machines and make sure you buy what you really need. The Metro system is apparently calibrated to rocket scientists who can figure out the fare system and locals who just get accustomed to it. I have had better luck with subways in europe than with this one. More than once, I have ended up with a ticket with a balance that I cannot use and cannot be refunded.

Bottom line: In a city that thinks nothing of getting $300 and more a night for a bed, bath and towels, this little inn is about as good as it gets. It is much safer and quieter than the real cheapos in the city of DC and a lot less money than the big chain hotels. If you go, enjoy the fact that you are saving a lot of bucks. There is plenty of free parking and the Metro is the way to get around the area.

The Inn of Rosslyn was great for the budget. With its location close to all DC has to offer, it was a easy choice for my wife and 2 children to make. It's an older motel but is kept clean and with great service. We stayed in room #12 for 2 nights which was outfitted with a king sized bed, small refrigerator, iron and ironing board, large TV, and a hair dryer. A small continental breakfast consisting of coffee, juice, bagels and donuts was also included in the price. It had plenty of room for us to set up a pack and play for our child to sleep. The only suggestion I would have for the motel would be to update its mattresses and bedding.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and have nothing but nice thngs to say! The place does have dated bathrooms, but it was cute in a vintage sort of way. The neighborhood is very upscale. We looked into the prices of the apartments around there and they are around $2000 for a one bedroom.

I am not going to lie, from first apperance, this place does not look as nice as others, but once inside and you see what kind of service you get, you will soon change your mind!

The staff here is very friendly and like the other lady said, they will go out of their way to help you out. The lady told us of some great resturants around the area and if you like sushi there is a wonderful place two blocks up.

The walk from the metro to the hotel is nice. There is a CVS and a Safeway on the main street, if you want to grab something on your way in. And please, if people want to complain about the walk then rent a car and good luck getting a parking spot anywhere in Washington!

We liked the atmosphere and the rooms were very clean.
So if you are looking to stay at a nice hotel that is not snobby about their service and their prices, this is the place to stay!

Great budget motel when rolled into airfare bundle with Sat night free. Walking distance to metro (subway), Arlington Nat'l Cemetery, DC memorials, and museums. Small room with one broken bed and one sagging bed in a two queen room. Asked staff to fix/switch broken bed out and they did 'something', but the problem persisted. Nice working TV. Average continental breakfast. Average shuttle drivers. Neighborhood working class - no incidents. Two blue collar restaurants close by with good food: QuarterDeck and Ledo's. Good maid service and polite staff. If you spend your time and money away from this motel, you will be wise and regard this facility as a sleep-only motel.
