This hotel was a great location for those wanting to explore DC using the metro. The metro access was under the hotel lobby through crystal city mall, making it very simple. Once on the metro it was a 10 min trip to the city. The hotel lobby was modern looking and clean. The rooms were well appointed and modern, we had a room with two queen beds , it was a good size, the AC unit was noisy, and the bathroom was a little small , but overall it was a nice room. We used the indoor pool once, which was nice , it was large and not too busy, the smell of chlorine was a little over powering though. We paid extra for the buffet breakfast, which was a good deal , they had bacon, made to order eggs and omelettes, potatoes and the usual fruit, oatmeal, cereal and toast. If you bought the breakfast separately it was a lot more expensive. The only negative we had was we needed to be picked up at the airport and were told only one terminal was serviced by the courtesy bus to the hotel, so we walked a good 15 mins through the airport to the pick up point. Once there we waited for 30 mins and called the hotel where we were directed to a different location, again we waited and no bus showed up. We called again and were sent back to the original location, eventually the bus showed up and the driver told us he picked up from all three terminals. If we had waited at the original terminal and waited we could have been picked up there. Other than that a good stay.

Not too far from the airport and is surrounded by other forms of transportation to attractions. It is part of an underground section of stores for quick snacks or personal items to bring to your room. The security is impressive - doors to underground are locked at particular time and must use room key. There is an outside mall and Costco a few blocks away.
I wasn't able to check out everything about the hotel but was pleased enough to stay there twice during my travels.

This hotel was very convenient to travel as the subway is accessible under the hotel along with the Crystal City mall, so there are plenty of restaurants and shopping . I stayed in a king room, didn't have a great view, but the room was very clean and very well taken care of. Ate the first evening in the restaurant in the hotel, way overpriced for my taste.

I stayed at the Crystal City Marriott while on a business trip to the D.C. area. It's a nice place, and I would stay here again. However, there are a few things that I would improve if I were king for a day. The hotel itself is beautiful, it's one block from the Metro, and there are many options for shopping and dining nearby. The fitness center is well-maintained and has plenty of newer, state-of-the-art equipment. The restaurant and bar area, located just off the lobby, are immaculate and stylish. The staff is helpful, friendly, and always seem to be smiling. The Concierge lounge, found on the Mezzanine level, is newly rennovated.

However, the cooling system in the room is noisy and the temperature fluctuates dramatically. It made sleeping difficult because I was alternating between being cold and hot throughout the night.

In the morning, I went to the Concierge lounge for breakfast, and they were out of regular coffee (but they had plenty of decaf on hand!) and the coffee server was not refilled in the 20 minutes I was in the lounge. In my mind, that's just not something that should ever happen during breakfast. Clean utensils and napkins were also in short supply, although there was plenty of hot (and tasty) food. There were two people staffing the lounge, and it seemed not to be enough -- they were constantly on the move.

Finally, the room rates are not exactly cheap. It's D.C., it's Arlington, it's near Reagan National Airport. I get it. But unless you're on a corporate plan rate, you're paying a fair bit to stay here -- probably north of $300 a night. At that price, I'd like to have hot coffee and an air conditioner that doesn't keep me awake.

I have stayed here many times on business over the years, so it has been interesting to watch the steady decline of this property. In it's current state, I can no longer recommend it. They used to have a separate desk for rewards members, that is gone. Now they did not even acknowledge that until I asked. Yes, it costs ate least 300 a night with no wifi...unless you are willing to be fleeced for 13 bucks more per night! They will tell you it is available for free in their crowed lobby, but I don't check into a hotel after traveling all day to hang out in the lobby. Got a room at the end of the hall...subpar. Beat up fridge and hot, even with ac on 65. Bathroom small, toilet takes up most of floor space. Went down to the small lobby store, all out of Tylenol, aspirin or any other kind of pain reliever. No apologies from their lackadaisical front desk. This hotel survives on location, but little else. Not up to Marriott standards in any way.

Stayed here with my family in May 2012. It was a great "home base" for exploring DC.

Rooms - nothing special. Clean room, comfortable bed. What more do you want. A fridge would have been nice.

Location - Excellent. Quick walk to subway, many resturants both in Crystal City mall complex and along 23rd (great pizza place on 23rd), drug store (snacks for kids), and free 5 minute shuttle to Regan airport. Took 20-30 minutes to walk to subway and take train to the National Mall area.Rented a car one day from Hertz in the lobby.

Service - Excellent. Lady at the concierge/tourist desk was unhelpful, but every other staff we encountered was Excellent.

Food - we only ate breakfast there, as it was included with the room. In fact, breakfast buffet for two adults and two kids was almost half the cost of the room. Omlettes were excellent. Staff was great. Went out for dinner each night, walked to 23rd, lots of choices. Some were good, some were great.

Pool - eh, it was OK. Older, needed some work. Good for kids to relax at the end of the day. Outdoor pool not open before Memorial Day weekend.

Conclusion - if you are planning to tour DC and don't want to spend $300/night, I highly recommend staying in the Crystal City area.

Stayed here for a week while attending a convention. While there is nothing noticeably wrong with the hotel, there's nothing that makes it particularly great, either.

The lobby is cramped, with space divided up between the front desk/snack shop, a Starbucks, and a restaurant. Wi-Fi isn't available in the rooms unless you're willing to pay the extortion money to get it. (If McDonalds can offer free Wi-Fi when taking my $5, can't Marriott offer it when I'm paying close to $200 a night?) When I checked in, I was asked which of three newspapers (Washington Post, NY TImes, Wall St. Journal) I'd like delivered to my room each day. I chose the Post, but never received one in six days there. These are relatively minor issues, I know, but they're still irritating.

The whole Crystal City complex (mostly underground) is a great idea, in theory, with long, wide corridors linking to all sorts of establishments, from restaurants to pharmacies to hairstylists. The problem is that, aside from two or three restaurants, everything pretty much shuts down by 8 p.m., so you're out of luck if you need anything later than that. You'd think a Rite-Aid and Dunkin' Donuts could do business around the clock, but by 7:45, they're pretty much ready to slam the doors shut.

On the positive side, the Metro stop beneath the complex is very convenient and the rooms are comfortable; they're just nothing you can't find at a less pricey hotel.
