“Our favorite place to stay in DC”
Reviewed March 20, 2009

We love this hotel! The location is extremely convenient with a metro stop, shopping, restaurants and more only a five minute walk away (and if it’s raining the hotel shuttle can get you there for free). The rooms are adequately sized with everything you need for an extended stay, and there are several laundry rooms at the hotel. Breakfast is provided, as are evening meals Monday through Wednesday. You’ll have to settle for popcorn and ice cream sundaes on Thursday evening, however. Of course, this is not 4-star cuisine we’re talking here, but at the end of a long day, if somebody else is cooking and cleaning up for me, I’m not one to complain. My only quibble is that at check-in they would not include our toddler son on our meal ticket (which meant that he could not get his own serving at dinner). Very weird, especially since they seem to treat kids well otherwise; the front desk staff gave him some toys during our stay. Nevertheless, due to the generally friendly staff, the good location and the very good value, we don’t have plans to stay anywhere else on our future trips.

We spent 3 nights in a 2 bedroom suite. The service from the front desk, housekeeping, shuttle drivers, busboys at the free breakfast, and even the computer support were extremely friendly and effiecient. We couldn't have been happier! The room was huge and there was plenty of storage space. The room was immaculate and comfortable with great televisions in each room. We were on the 16th floor and it was very quiet. The free breakfast was decent, not exceptional, but certainly many choices. The shuttle was very handy bringing us to close by locations, but it was raining and we did not want to walk. The pool/hottub was nice and they even had a lifeguard on duty. The location is about a 5 minute walk to the Metro station. Overall this hotel exceeded our expectations with their friendly service and numerous amenities.

All the good things others have said, with a few drawbacks:
- The Internet connection becomes unusable when there are many guests trying to use it. I wasted lots of time with the tech support and hotel people before they finally admitted this is a chronic problem for them. So, don't count on your connection being there except at odd times of the day.
- The breakfast room was marred by a TV so loud that all the tables near it remained empty while people huddled in the corner to get away. This went on every day. Fortunately, they provide trays so you can take the food to your room. Why do hotels defer to the people who must have noise all the time, at the expense of the rest of us?

That said, I would come back because of the location and convenience.

We stayed here on our visit to Washington, D.C. in September 2008. We really enjoyed this hotel. Good location - only 2 blocks from Metro and if you don't want to walk, they have a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up. Make sure to tip the driver - it's worth it. Good breakfast every day and meal during the weekdays. Room was clean. Nice hotel.

Will definitely stay there again on return trip.

My family and I stayed here for the Inauguration and we had a great time. This hotel has nice accommodations and a friendly staff. We also brought our dog along, and he was always welcome. The hotel hosts a very good breakfast for guests every morning with eggs, sausage, waffles and much more. On some days there is a free beer/wine social in the evening with salad and other light fare. It's only a couple blocks from a huge mall that has Macy's, Nordstrom and a grocery store (you can stock up your refrigerator). It is also very centrally located to all attractions in DC. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Just returned from a 4-day stay at the Residence Inn @ Pentagon City. I chose this property since it was ranked #1 for Arlington and we wanted to stay close to Washington DC. In terms of location, it was ideal. Only 2 blocks away from Metro station and close enough to hop on any highway in the area. However, we noticed that the rooms need some TLC. The wallpaper on bathroom wall was peeling off, tile grouts are cracked all around, and carpet looked a bit frayed. While the room was mostly clean (I did find previous occupants' hair brush in the closet), I was expecting a bit more. Further, the staff wasn't friendly by any stretch. It looked like they were there because they had to, not because they wanted to. No smiles when they see you, barely a response when I asked for directions. Again, not what I expected from #1 ranked hotel. Having free breakfast was a good idea except that the menu is exactly the same each day and the selection is not that great. After two days, we got tired of the same food and decided to eat elsewhere for breakfast. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay. Between the great location and having a kichennette, we managed to have a good stay, but I'd advise anyone to lower their expectations before booking with this property.

Very nicely located. We took our bicylces and stayed for 7 nights. The hotel shuttle was a plus and its location to the Metro was nice. Also Costco was a 2 block walk down the street as well as the Mall. Great breakfast included in the morning. The free simple dinners on Mon-Tues -Wed was also not bad. Only thing I could have asked for was Wifi which was not available in the room and I had to use a cable. I would definitely stay here again back .
