“A Little Bit of Military History in Arlington, VA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Being a retired naval officer gave us an opportunity to go back to my active duty years. Fort Meyer is an old Post, dating back to the day when horses were the primary means of transportation. Historical homes mixed with modern post exchange, commissary, Officer's Club, etc, bring you back in time to a slower pace of living. Attached next to Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Meyer is definitely worth a visit IF you are active duty or retired military.

“Mostly an Ordinary Army Base!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

If you have no experience with the military, you may find the guard station interesting, and the dorms, Base Exchange, bowling alley, and chapels, etc. Generally, it was an ordinary Army base. It was more beautiful than most, because of Arlington National Cemetery in the background, and the lovely trees.

“The Home of Arlington's Tomb Guards and Funeral Details.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Where the Tomb Guards live is a beautiful Post. The back entrance into Arlington Cemetery and the Old Post Chapel showcase the start of a Soldiers Final Review. Stand quietly and reverently and see the gentleness and caring manner provided to those on their way to burial at one of the many famous areas within Arlington National Cemetery. If you or a loved one has ever served our country you will be impressed with how the men and women of todays military honor those of today and yesterday.

“Access Limited”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We visited onm a Saturday and ran into restrictions and closed gates. The signs were not helpful and one does not know that a gate is closed until one gets there. Not tourist friendly.
