I grew up in Arlington in a military family. We spent so much time at Ft. Myers. Swimming, bowling, the military parades which were absolutely beautiful to watch, especially at night. Ft. Myers has px, commissary and medical facilities and is right next to Henderson Hall and Arlington National Cemetery.

Small, nice post. Was there for business/government training. Nice spacious community club. Can see the edge of Arlington Cemetery just past the community club.

The famous home of the most precision military unit in the world. The 3rd Infantry Regiment (Old Guard) and their elite Tomb Guards diligently train and prepare for their somber duties on these beautiful grounds.

We were told about the Army Tattoo and it was in walking distance. It is held on a parage ground overlooking DC - great view. The music and drill was excellent and the kids enjoyed it.

We came to Fort Myer to watch the 4th of July fireworks. Although MWR was having a ticketed event that day, it ended by 6 p.m. We set up our picnic blanket on the lawn at Whipple Field which overlooks all of DC from atop a hill. They had coolers of ice water set out and Gatorade and other drinks to purchase. You were welcome to bring your own food and coolers, but you needed to pass through a security checkpoint where they would search your bags and wand you. Parking was available at the Fort Myer exit from Arlington Cemetery, but we parked at the pool thinking I could get my handicapped child closer and avoid the walk. Bad move, as traffic is KILLER getting off post after the event. I think we sat in traffic just to get off post for 45 minutes to 1 hour. However, the awesome vantage point for the fireworks show was worth it!
