Owner description: Veterans of every American war from the Revolution to the country's most recent conflicts are buried at Arlington, which was officially declared a military cemetery in 1864. Among the more than 260,000 dead are three unidentified service members, buried at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and John F. Kennedy, whose gravesite is marked by an eternal flame.

“breathtaking”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

Not much to say, it just takes your breath away.
They should do something about the noisy youngsters that interupt the ceremony at the changing of the guards though, that kind of ruined the moment and was very disrespectful.

“AMAZING! Emotional! and Even as a Canadian - Not to be Missed!”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

Arlington National Cemetery UNEXPECTIDLY became one of the emotional and patriotic highlights - even as Canadians - of our Summer 2012 trip to Washington DC.
Exceptionally well organized, well planned the 'cemetery' is a dramatic not-to-be-missed focal point of a trip to the SU capital.
Tram travel and escorted group tours are very well organized, extremely informative, and do provide the time and insight at each stop to give you a true sense of the importance, ceremony, and regal pride of the location.

Not to be missed are: of course the Kennedy grave sites - quiet, solemn, simple, elegant; a walk through the perfectly lined tombstones; and a MUST is a stop and viewing of the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - something we will never forget.

“Beautiful and peaceful”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Quiet, solemn, sad, but peaceful. This how I felt when walking around Arlington National Cemetery. The eternal flame at John F. Kennedy's gravesite brought back memories of his death...where I was, how I felt, etc.. Looking around at all the gravesites, including my son's best friend, killed in Iraq, made me feel sad at all the lives lost. I hope to go back to honor all who have died in honor of our country, but I will know what to expect.

“History and respect”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

A wonderful but sombre way to spend the day. Tranquility and respect is abundant even though when we visited the Eternal Flame on President Kennedy's grave was being upgraded. Do a lot of research on what you want to see as the area is huge and very hilly in places although there is a trolley to take you around at a cost but walking is better if you can manage it. Incredibly manicured lawns - Changing the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a definite to put on the list.
