“Great and free place for families with toddlers”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

Haven't been in the indoor facility yet, but have gone numerous times on the little trails with 18 mon toddler. There are trees everywhere so it's always shaded, and the trails aren't too long in case you need to pick up the little one for the rest of the walk. For a free activity this is a great outdoor to do with a young family, and there's even a nice playground not too far away.

“Free, family-friendly fun”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

This nature center's set of walking trails and its free indoor mini-museum are great for families with young kids. The trails are clearly marked, safe and quiet routes easy enough for the youngest walkers. The outdoor Nature Playce has sandtables and areas for play with natural materials, like tree branches and big rocks. The small pond is a wonderful place to show little ones the journey of eggs, to tadpoles to frogs. The indoor play and learning areas are a treasure on rainy days. Small live animal displays (turtles, snakes, frogs), books, puzzles, animal costumes and other activities can keep kids busy for quite a while!

“Amazing, sweet, no-frills kid fun”
Reviewed April 13, 2012

This place is free. And marvelous. It's part of Fairfax County Parks & Rec, and there are trails, play areas, and an indoor exhibit that, while not fancy, is just right for a rainy or winter Saturday for the 2-10 set. There are costumes to try on, books to read, and both live and stuffed (!) animals to look at. It's brilliant.

“Clean, well presented small nature center”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

Love Fairfax County and their Nature Centers. This one is tucked away from the main road a bit and has a long entry walkway. Lots of nice displays, dress up area and well staffed front desk.

Phone calls are typically answered by volunteers who take messages.

They do nice birthday parties. Make sure to check out the outdoor area, behind the center! Fun! Free!
