“A very special racetrack for real racers”

Virginia International Raceway
Ranked #1 of 1 things to do in Alton

Not too many racetracks have expended to this level, offering so many possibilities for all kind of racing - amateur and professional - activities. Surprising knowing the place is so remote at the border of Virginia and North Carolina. It is worth considering for championship organizers. The owners are also looking forward to improve based on legitimate suggestions.
Do not miss the TMI Autotech race school with very special cars.

I go to a lot of racetracks and this experience was like being at camp! My husband does club racing and this year we decided to check out VIR. We stayed in the villas right at the track. We were there for three night. Also, at the track is two restaurants, one down at the paddock with better than typical track food, the selection is bigger than any track I have ever been to, including a decent veggie burger. The other a full service restaurant up in a different location up on a hill with woods all around. Plus, they have a good sized pool for people staying at the track overnight. Great experience. Definitely up in my top three for track experiences so far.

If you are going for just the day there are plenty of good places to see the races from. Many of which are in the shade, but as all tracks go, it can get extremely hot in the summer in the sun so take precautions.

Beautiful day at VIR! A lot of Cup and Nationwide drivers testing today. Jamie Mac,Edwards, Pablo, Kennseth and Kurt Busch to name a few! 15 bucks for two full days of testing, you can't beat the value! Denny Hamlin just showed up! Gets better and better.

VIR is the best motorsport park on the east coast for a variety of reasons. There are many businesses on site, a plantation feel, spa services for family members looking for a little relaxation, Lodge, restaurant/tavern, townhomes for rent, garages, and a stellar racing surface.

For big spectactor events, VIR is only second to Daytona, but the big tri-oval lacks the country feel of Virginia's best motorsport country club.

From racing, to driving schools, there are many reasons to come to VIR. As a spectator or a participant, everyone can find something that interests them here. Check the calendar and learn about the groups that are renting.

If you want to drive your car on track check out trackdaze.com as they offer time on VIR's circuit with trained coaches and instructors for a great price.

The VIR Gallery and Pagoda were locations for wedding parties that I attended. The food was excellent - service was outstanding - the best bartenders I have had in a long time. The setting for the events was excellent and everyone made you feel so welcomed. We stayed at the Lodge and the rooms are lovely. The hardwood floors are a nice touch. The beds were a little soft for my liking and the bedspread/comforter weighed a tone but the decor was really lovely also. The room had a nice jetted tub and a separate shower. I'm sure the shower /shower head was "green" friendly but I expected more luxury than was there. Low water pressure and the shower head was not the top of the line that I would have expected in this facility. The continental breakfast items in the room was a nice touch along with the coffee maker. Amenity items such as the shampoo was top grade!
