“Easter brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

We live somewhat locally and was looking for a nice place to enjoy an Easter brunch with family and friends. We found it at this hotel. The food w as delicious, especially the Mediterranian salmon, Nova lox and shrimp. I don't eat much meat, but I tasted the rosemary infused roast beef and it was moist and delicious. The rum cake and chocolate fudge cake was sinfully delicious. The wait staff service was friendly, warm, and right there if we needed anything. I would definitely recommend the restaurant if you have a large party, as we did as we were not cramped and the room was fresh and open. Too bad the weather was bad and we couldn't walk off our meal a few blocks away in Old Town. Will definitely make this an easy tradition for next year.

I stayed here over Easter weekend and could not have been more pleased with the hotel. The front desk staff was pleasant and responsive. The location is terrific - walking distance to all of Olde Town, with easy access (via shuttle) to DCA. I enjoyed the suite - though small, it did provide two distinct spaces, which was nice for a weekend stay. There was a coffee maker and a microwave. Each room has a balcony, which was nice (though I did not use either and there was no furniture on the balcony, anyway). The rooms were clean. I did find that I did not get the uber-hot hot water from the shower -- though it was fine enough (i.e., it wasnt cold, just not uber-hot).

Agree with the reviewer re: the wireless. The package seems to be applied only to 1 device. I did not use, but the wireless access is something they could probably improve upon.

Thank you very much for your comments. I am thrilled you had a nice experience and that you shared them with Trip Advisor. The suites are always an added plus and you can be sure the value of staying here verses another hotel that has a standard room cannot be beat. We have listened with regard to the internet and you will be glad to know that we just completed a rewiring of the building and are only awaiting our bandwidth to be upgraded by our carrier. Once that is done we will be updating all or our internet packages and it will improve the speed exponentially. We look forward to having you back and thanks again for sharing your experience.

Warmly,

Steve W.

We reserved two suites, each with double beds, that were to be adjoining. I know there is no guarantee but Sheraton seems to have a particular problem honoring this sort of request. There was no exception here, the only note in my reservations was "rooms nearby each other." Fortunately, the woman who checked us in was quite determined to come as close as possible to honoring my request and to apologize. Given time she was able to find adjoining rooms, one with a king bead and the other with two queens; we made it work. She also comped our breakfast and parking. We really appreciated this level of customer service!

This hotel is about 9 blocks away from King Street with shops and restaurants and a metro train station. Both are doable walks and are also serviced by a hotel shuttle. Our only gripe is the communication regarding this shuttle. The shuttle goes to Reagan National Airport and the train station at the airport, departing every thirty minutes. If the shuttle is out you might not get picked up in town. Most important is that the information regarding the shuttle differs from staff person to staff person. No matter what you are told, you will not get picked up at the Braddock Metro station. We found out the hard way. A cab cost us over $8.00.

Room service was quick and the food was hot and tasty. The breakfast buffet offered variety and was fresh and the service staff was terrific. The suites were comfortable and offered a refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker with Starbucks coffee and creamers. The hotel might consider free internet in rooms for club guests but the fee of $10.99 was comparable with other hotels. Despite a few frustrations regarding the shuttle we were comfortable.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience on Trip Advisor. Our staff truly does care about making sure our guests have the best stay possible. Even though we cannot always promise specific rooms or shuttle pick up please know that we do our best to accommodate every single guest. In fact that is often the problem with our shuttle. In our efforts to accommodate more people we often over promise even though we tell guests that shuttle service is based on availability. I am glad you had a good experience overall and hope that you will visit us again. Thanks again for your feedback!

The hotel was in a nice location in Old Town and was a nice short walk to local restaurants/bars. The room was pretty clean and it was nice having a fridge, microwave, and sink. The room was set up a little awkward and it almost seemed like there was too much going on for the amount of space. I rented two rooms (Room 924 and Room 934) and the guest in the other room made the same comment. Overall, it was comfortable. It was phenomenal that after check-in, I was provided a couple fruit trays, bottles of water, and some nut mix to my room. I don't know if it was because of my Platinum status or if they found out it was my birthday. Either way, it was a nice gesture.

They only have two elevators in the hotel. When we arrived, we were advised they were getting a new elevator so only one was working; The wait time for the elevator was extremely long.

The breakfast was very good. We had free breakfast, the continental, but we opted to upgrade to the buffet for an extra $5 each. It was worth it for the bacon/sausage, eggs, potatoes, Belgium waffles, pancakes, etc.

Thanks so much for your comments, I am glad you had a nice experience. We are almost done with our elevator upgrade and hopefully the new equipment will work faster and more efficient for our guests. Unfortunately there is never a good time to do elevator work but our staff is available and for any emergencies we are happy to help guests with the use of our service elevator. I am glad you took advantage of our hot breakfast upgrade in the restaurant for Club Members. There are times when the club can be crowded so having the option to be served in the restaurant we have found to be very popular. Please come visit us again and thanks again for your feedback!

Warmest Regards,

Steve W.

I stayed here for business. I signed up for wireless in the room. The signup page said that one signup would cover all devices. Nope. I got triple-charged. So I asked the front desk to remove the two extra charges. The front desk only removed one. I had to call Starwood Preferred Guest services to get the other overcharge removed. Strike one.

Strike two: the printer for boarding passes didn't work.

Strike three: although everyone who works there is very friendly, the front desk people don't seem to be empowered to fix problems. Based on that problem, the decision not to remove an overcharge has cost the hotel one call to corporate and this review. Not a great decision by the hotel.

There are other hotels nearby. Stay in any of them--not this one.

Thanks so much for your feedback as this allows me the opportunity to reinforce training and improve our service. We want all of our guests to be met with well trained staff that put guest comfort first. Something as simple as a mischarge on an internet fee can easiliy be rectifide and I am sorry our staff let you down. In fact the building is in the process of upgrading to a very dynamic and powerful internet system which will go into effect hopefully by the end of April. With so many guests using our business center it is not impossible for the printer to go offline. You can be sure it is already up and running and that we are looking into improving this free service.
Again, thanks so much for sharing your experience and please know that you can always call any of our managers to resolve any confusion. Please stay with us again so that we can demonstrate our commitment to your comfort.

Warmest Regards,

Steve W.

We were flying out of DCA when a storm was predicted sooooooooo we left our home to stay overnight closer to the airport. The Sheraton Suites looked quite nice. Our room was a lovely two room suite with a lovely view of the river. (Room 602) It was very quiet. My biggest disappointment was that internet was an extra cost. There was free computers in the lobby but that was always being used! We were very stressed with the upcoming weather and wanted to check our flights and keep family updates. The surrounding neighborhood is great. It is an easy walk to restaurants. We enjoyed Murphys for drinks and The Pita bread for lunch. Airport transfers were efficient. The cost of the property was very expensive (we had to book a day prior to the trip so that could be some of the reason and we did opt for the included breakfast.)

Room Tip: Room 602 is quiet and a nice view....

Thanks so very much for your comments. The Sheraton Suites is the perfect hotel to stay the night in before a trip to the airport. Not only do we arrange to park your car but our close proximity and airport shuttle makes it easy to get to the airport on time. Again, thank you for your comments and please do stay with us again very soon.

Warmly,

Steve W.
