My wife grew up in Alexandria and had always wanted to stay at Morrison House. She remembered it being "the" place to stay. I thought there would be no way ANY hotel could live up to a lifetime's worth of expectations.

Morrison House proved me wrong by being the most elegant and inviting place I have ever stayed (and I do a lot of traveling). The hotel staff is very friendly without overdoing it. The comfortable amenities like complementary cookies in the main level lounge area were a real treat. The colonial era decor is beautiful and warm; befitting of Old Town Alexandria.

The hotel sits right in the heart of Old Town. It was perfect for an evening stroll through the shops and restaurants. We took in a comedy show about a block away after dining at Morrison House's (apparently) famous restaurant. While it was a little more than I would usually spend for a meal, the food and service could not be beat. We enjoyed our romantic getaway; but I think you would love to stay there for business or pleasure.

We had read that the service was excellent, but we really didn't appreciate what that meant until we arrived at night during the middle of a snowstorm. The staff called local restaurants to find one that was open, then volunteered to take us there. We have never felt so coddled and welcome, but not in an annoying way.
The next day we had breakfast and dinner at the hotel.(previous night was their xmas party and dining room was closed). The quality and service were five star, and the rooms' ambience and chairs just made us feel super comfortable. This is now our getaway place when visiting children in DC.

Very nice hotel with exceptional service. The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated as was the parlor off of the lobby (about all I saw of the hotel). Overall, the room was very comfortable with one small caveat - the bed was a bit saggy in the middle. The location, however, can not be beat - very close to great reataurants and shopping. Definitely a great value for the price and we will stay there again the next time we are in town.

Excellent hotel with outstanding service and food. The atmosphere of the room was very nice, and the room service food was great (and the prices on the menu reasonable--although the extra charges can add up). The room itself was very bright and airy; the bed was very comfortable with nice feather pillows (others available if you are allergic to feather pillows).

The tea room was great after a day of sightseeing, and the location was very good as well. The staff in the piano bar made a point to give us cashews (not peanuts) when I wanted to order food after the kitchen was closed.

We were there for a night, so we did the valet parking, but other reviewers have mentioned other parking options are available.

A class operation.
