My husband & I stayed here in 2 separate occasions in June (9 nights in total). Having stayed in a Kimpton hotel previously we selected this hotel from the 3 available in Alexandria and were not disappointed in any way.

From the minute we arrived by car and were welcomed by Jose we knew we had made a fantastic choice. Within, the hotel is beautiful and there is an amazing attention to detail. The level of service is a real hallmark of this establishment: Jannita at reception and our Irish breakfast waiter were superb. Our rooms were well appointed and immaculate.

There is no question that we will return it this hotel on our next visit to Alexandria. The friendliness and the high level of service experienced here are truly commendable.

Room Tip: Just choose to stay here. You will not be disappointed.

Dear CHA4600,

It is our goal to give every guest the unique experience of a true boutique hotel. This is something a large number of the big box hotels might struggle with. I’m glad that Jose, Jonita and John (“The Irish Man”) made your experience a special one!
Thank you for the great feedback and see you soon,

Tobias

What a fantastic hotel! This was my first experience with Morrison House, but it definitely won't be my last! The staff was very accommodating, and bent over backwards to make this a nice experience, from helping me with my luggage, to the evening wine reception. It was beautifully decorated, with a type of personality that gave it almost a bed and breakfast charm. Even better, I had a fabulous dinner at the Morrison House Grille, which gave way to an entertaining evening of watching local singers perform at open mic night at the piano bar. It is centrally located in historic Alexandria, and within walking to distance to almost everything. In response to some of the negative reviews I've seen on here: I did not even notice that dogs were at the hotel. Also, I had a lower level room, which some call the basement, but it was still beautiful. While the windows are a little bit smaller than some of the upper levels, I still found it very enchanting, and the bed was very comfortable.

Dear Arna M,

Thank you for the great comments about our team and your overall experience. I’m glad that you had the opportunity to dine in our restaurant and that you were able to experience why our Piano Bar was votes as the best in Virginia by the “Virginia Living Magazine”.
I notices that you read some of the other reviews and you are correct that the Morrison House is usually a quite oasis in the heart of Old Town. It is nice to hear that you found your room on the lower level of our Hotel to be beautiful.
The rooms on the lower floor of the hotel are called our queen and king rooms and the rooms on the upper floors are either a "deluxe king", "deluxe queen" or our "deluxe suites". This gives all guests the opportunity to chose their favorite room location when making their reservation.
Thank you again for the fantastic feedback and please come back to see us soon!

Yours,

Tobias

Morrison House is far and away the most charming small hotel in Old Town Alexandria!!! We always recommend it to friends coming to Old Town. Morrison House is also the perfect venue for special events. Recently my husband and I co-hosting a champagne reception and dinner for 24 guests at the Morrison House. All our guests LOVED it!!! Morrison House is also a wonderful place to go and enjoy a very delicious meal or relax in the bar.

The Morrison House, a small, boutique hotel very close to Olde Towne Alexandria is perfect for some peace and quiet and to get away from the usual generic hotel. Although the rooms are on the small side, the beds are great, and everything is at your fingertips. The very best comment we can make about this little gem is the staff. Great smiles, great welcome, great attitude and very helpful. Everything is within walking distace, and beautiful Mount Vernon is a short car ride away - a must-see for this area. Possibly this hotel wouldn't be great with children as there is no pool and not much space surrounding the hotel for them to run around. However, for couples who want a romantic getaway or anyone enjoying the ambiance of a place decorated in period style, this is a grand choice.

Dear LYEVBA,

I really appreciate the kind words about our staff. I’m fortunate to lead a team that truly cares about the well being of every single guest and I’m thankful that your recognized this. They are the hard and soul of the Morrison House and some of them have been loyal to this hotel for a quarter of a century. Thank you for your feedback and please let me know if there is anything I can assist you with in the future.

Respectfully,

Tobias

From the time we checked in until we left, we felt welcomed be every staff member. We were greeted as soon as we exited the elevator and each time we returned to the hotel. When I asked the desk clerk about directions in Washington, she found coupons for us to use at the museums. At the evening "Happy Hour," the staff was attentive but not overbearing.
It's location is great - just off King Street and about equidistant from the waterfront and the Metro Station. As a matter of fact, since we love to walk, we didn't move our car until we checked out. You can find restaurants close by or take a stroll to the waterfront for more selections. There is also a restaurant on-site.
The room was lovely, with three windows and a really comfortable bed.
The next time we visit Alexandria, the Morrison House will be the place we'll stay.
