“Good value for money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2009

We booked this hotel through Hotwire. We got a very decent rate. Nevertheless, we were offered a two double beds room, which is in my opinion too small for four adults.
The room is quite big for a two star hotel. It has a big TV and a small table with two chairs. Furthermore, we had some mold on the bathroom ceiling. The sink was also worn. Although furthermore it looked quite clean, the hotel, certainly the bathroom, could do with an update.
The swimming pool outside was alright. Although it is small, it is nice to cool down. The fitness center is very minimal. Don't expect anything from that.
This hotel has two very big advantages: the first one is that parking is free. The second one is the fact that they offer a free shuttle service to and from the nearest train station. From this station there is a direct train service to Arlington Cemetery and Capitol Hill.
The breakfast is an expanded continental breakfast. Besides the normal cereals etc., waffles are available. This morning, we also had a cooked egg.
The service is very good. If you have a problem with a broken light etc., they fix it immediately. If you call for the shuttle, they show up in less than 5 minutes.
I would stay in this hotel again. However, expect a basic hotel.

This hotel has great service to the Van Dorn Metro station.
Internet access is dismal, front desk will give you a toll free number to call the contracted internet supplier where you will go through "select 1 for.., etc" until you hang up. I ended up getting internet service by placing my computer on top of the coat rack in the corner of the room.
Pool is outside, if windy, it is very cold. They do have a lifeguard. When you go out the door marked for the pool, it locks behind you. You must go around to the front of the hotel and go through the lobby to get back in.
I can not comment on the "store" as it was never open the three days I was there, even though the hours posted said it should be.
The restaurant is a joke. Great looking menu, but hope you only want pizza with pepperoni as that is all they had.
This hotel is not walking distance to anything. If you have kids, the pool is the only option and being outside is not always available. You will have to drive somewhere to eat, etc.
If this hotel was cheap I would say it was worth the price. But it wasn't! I would not stay here again.
Very friendly staff.

We stayed for 2 nights. Room was in average condition. Easy access to downtown by car. Not much for restuarants within walking distance. Pool area was okay. It was nice to have a lifeguard on duty. Breakfast has very limited hours and was a mad house. Not an enjoyable way to start the day. Small store in lobby was nice.

One of the main reasons we selected this hotel was to get to use the pool, which didn't open until 10am. With our 11am checkout time, it didn't leave much time at all to use it. It also closes at 9pm, and we arrived too late to use it.

The internet was very slow. We had to fiddle with the connections for a long time to get it to even work, that with my husband being an electrical engineer and all.

Other than that, it was clean and quiet.

Booked this at the last minute for a two night stay to show friends from the UK around DC. Drove from Pennsylvania and getting to the actual hotel was not the easiest because you have to immediately do U-turns when you come off the Beltway. The poor receptionist was swamped when we got there but was very pleasant and helpful when we finally checked in. We got a king size bed, bathroom and a separate sitting room with a powder room. A microwave and mini-fridge were in the sitting room. The mattress on the sofa bed was so thin that the springs left marks on your body. The air conditioner was so loud we had to turn it off at night. The rooms were clean and basic. Even though there were parties of school children staying there, our room was quiet. The free breakfast was basic but fine - fresh fruit, yoghurt, waffles, bagels, cereal. The free shuttle to the Metro was a definite plus and outdoor parking at the hotel is free. I prefer to stay closer to the Mall but this was a good option.

We stayed 3 nights, got Hotel on Priceline for £50 tried to contact them by E-Mail no reply but when got to hotel found room was a disabled room (not asked for)with a single Queen bed. Bed was comfy enough but would not have been out of place in Lilliput, room was just about big enough to swing cat but it would be SCARED. The disabled hand rail pushed you out the side of the bath which was a bit of a pain. Breakfast Buffet was very good but go early or late (before 6:30 or after 8) to avoid the school trips as it gets hectic. The bus to station was a real boon and the Metro is a great way of seeing the sights in DC (a tip, the day pass starts at 9:30 am cost $7.80 and is valid the rest of the day) when you get back to the station just phone to be collected before 10pm. The real fault with this hotel is there is absolutely nothing to do at the hotel, there is a little pool but we were told it does not open until Memorial day. Which means it is not worth coming home till bed time. The hotel is in the middle of a busy road system which means there is nowhere to walk, so if you want a drink you are lumbered!

We stayed for five nights, including a weekend, and found everything (with one exception, more on that later) to meet our expectations. The room was clean, although a bit small. The bathroom was sparkling clean with a shiny bath tub and a shower head that was adjustable and worked! The breakfast room was too warm but on the last 2 days more comfortable. On the whole, we found the shuttle van to the Metro Center good. However, one morning we waited for a 1/2 hour due to possible miscommunication on the part of the Desk Clerk. Other than that, it was ultra convenient. The value is quite good when looking at money vs benefits.
