“Pad Thai smelled like dead squid”
Reviewed June 23, 2011

This was our first time at this restaurant. We were seated immediately however there were several customers who arrived after us that were served before us. My colleague and I both ordered the same dish, pad Thai and our other colleague order chicken fried rice. When our dishes came out 25 minutes later, we could smell a rotten seafood odor from the pad Thai. We both we flabbergasted as we dis not expect this. We sent it back and asked for the fried rice with the hope that we don't get the same smell. Unfortunately, 1/2 right on second time around and one of the new fried rice dishes had a faint smell of the rotten squid. We just gave up and I didn't eat the dish. We were so disappointed with the food and on top of it all, they couldn't get it right. We will never go back to this restaurant due to The terrible food and lack of response by the restaurant. They still charged us for the 2nd meal.

“Gelatinous, greasy goo.”
Reviewed June 2, 2011

At least, that's what arrived when I ordered "Drunken Noodles." All matted together in a stiff mortar of rice starch and peanut oil.

I've had that dish (among others) in Thai restaurants all over Northern Virginia. To be fair, it's often flubbed, but some restaurants (like Rabieng, in Falls Church) do it so well that they have me thinking fondly of it, days afterward.

What's more, we waited for our order to be taken after several other tables that were seated after us. (It's such a small place--how would they get confused?) Later, we watched as, astonishingly, one of the tables got up, shortly after being served, settled their bill and departed. (An emergency? Food for 4, barely sampled, left on the table.) We understood--the great spring rolls notwithstanding--after the rest of our dishes arrived: All came drenched in the same bland-sweet brown liquid. As if the kitchen were down to its last bottle of Kikkoman Stir-Fry sauce.

Maybe it was an 'off' night--this restaurant gets pretty good reviews around the Web. But we found the prices to be what we'd expect closer in, along King Street--with the quality emphatically less.

“Just OK”
Reviewed February 5, 2011

We looked forward to trying this Thai place in Alexandria, but were disappointed. We tried the Tom Kha Gai soup, Kaprow pork, deep fried mixed seafood, and Pad Thai. Nice presentation. The mixed seafood was by far the best of the dishes. The other dishes looked good, but had no flavor.

Still looking for a good Thai place in northern Virginia.

“Great Wonton Soup, Fast delivery and onsite service”
Reviewed January 29, 2010

Like a lot about this place and the food. Only bad thing--when they are busy, you can tell they reuse pots/pans without washing them out. Burnt flecks of previously cooked meals have appeared in my entrees, giving them a yucky and burned flavor. That has been rare, but more than once, and not recently. Otherwise, food and service are great.
