Owner description: The Apothecary served local customers, including the Washingtons and Robert E. Lee, between 1792 and 1933. The shop was transformed into a museum shortly after its closing and visitors can still view the original ingredients, products, and documents left behind by this 141-year-old family business.

This is a very interesting place to visit. It goes back to the Civil War and you will be amazed at what they prepared there. Everything from paint to meds - another place not to miss

Authentic pharmacy with beautiful old gold leaf bottles. Excellent tour guide with lots of historical information. Second floor is a must see. It is interesting to see how medication was stored, prepared and maintained. Highly recommend!

I work for a small family owned pharmacy so I found this little treasure very interesting. Our tour guide did a wonderful job of explaining everything and it was amazing all the original items that were saved.....what a gem.

It is hard to believe that the owners just shut and locked the doors back in the great depression. This is not just a neighborhood drugstore. It also was a Pharmaceutical factory for its time and even a paint manufacturer. Three floors of items just as they had been. This is a must see stop.

Wasn't sure about this tour but it was well worth the small donation they ask for. Just like they say it is all original....
