This is a fun place! The apps are great and the drink list is interesting! Lots of fantasy themed drinks and menu items. Entree items were just okay. Definitely a fun place to try!

I wasn't expecting such an upscale restaurant hidden on a side street in Alexandria. The downstairs pub, the Green Dragon is a pub in name only. It's a nice bar that caters to tourists who find it via the local advertisements in the maps. Loud, friendly and a good selection of beers and wines, both local and domestic, as well as the standard selections in a bar. Upstairs the restaurant is quiet and cozy and serves a wide selection of creative dishes with names relating to the 'Lord of the Rings/Hobbit' movies. The lamb chops were wonderfully tender and being served with pumpkin was a surprise. Pumpkin with lamb chops? That was new. The server, Joe, could recommend beers and wines to go with the appropriate dish and was very knowledgeable of how the dishes were created. He was also a great conversationalist about the local area and events happening that might not show up on a tourist map. He made the evening fun. The dessert list was inventive, but the surprise was a coconut creme brulee - served in a coconut shell. After you finished the brulee you could scrape coconut out of the shell until you were full of raw coconut.

The decor is related to the movies, with murals and stained glass, with large wine cabinets and displays. It's worth the time to walk around the dining area to study the artwork and displays.

New to the area and stumbled on this place...what a find! Bilbo Baggins has one of the best beer selections in town and everything I've had on the menu has been good. The staff are all good fun and the bartenders knowledgeable.

* Don't miss the cilantro fires!

Five of us went there on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch. The place it self is very interesting, three row houses joined together with a brick oven in the middle. The beer selection was amazing. The food was wonderful. But best of all was the attentive, and aim to please staff. They invited us to wander around and check the place out. The upstairs hand painted wall mural took two years to complete. The natural slate floor and walls in the ladies rooms upstairs was a pretty surprise too. Loved the place

Not the flashiest storefront, but inside a lovely venue that was not over the top with Hobbit memorabilia. What was exceptional was the beer selection, several brews were highlighted as part fo an everchanging featured beer list as well as a static list of brews from all over the world. The food and service were quite good too, it was a great meal in a comfortable atmosphere with friendly service at a reasonable price. I hav=d the grilled swordfish that was nicely prepared and was a large portion which I was able to take back and have for lunch the following day - a bonus. The cranberry carmelized ginger bread was fresh baked that day and also super. We will definitely return during a future visit to the area.
