“A Feeling Of Home”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

This restaurant's southern cuisine gives me a feeling of being back home. The food is well seasoned and has great flavor -- two very important things to me. The atmosphere is very relaxed. I've never sat in the bar area, but each time I've passed, everyone really seemed to be having a great time.

“Good food and a fun place to be”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

We went to Southside 815 to celebrate my adult daughters birthday. The restaurant has three areas: Outdoors, the Bar and a sit down restaurant. The bar is crowded and noisy with locals. The restaurant is also crowed and a bit less noisy. The food was well prepared, promptly served and delicious. There were many families with young children so it appears to family friendly. I concur with the other reviews that discuss the menu items. Try it, I think you will have a good time.

“Regular hangout, never disappoints”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Southside has a great bar area with half priced burgers during games and happy hour. We love the atmosphere. The restaurant side is also great. The food is classic southern and they do it well. Order a typical southern dish (like fried chicken or catfish) and you will not be disappointed. Also, has outdoor seating for pleasant weather, although it is on a busy road.

“Interesting twist on classic Southern Food”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Good comfort food restaurant on an out of the way part of Washington Street, and it also has an attached sports bar with a fairly good beer selection. It is one of the few places in Alexandria that I know of to get New Orleans style food (Oyster, Shrimp or Crawfish Po’ Boys, Jambalya, Gumbo, etc.). Come on Wednesday night for their “raw bar” night (raw oysters on the half shell, as well as steamed shrimp and clams). I also recommend their sausage gravy over fried chicken stacked on sweet potato waffles (only on Wednesday night). Skip their “Carolina” pulled pork BBQ sandwich, however; it tasted like something from a cheap theme park food court. Go to Famous Dave’s BBQ just a couple of miles down US 1 (Richmond Hwy) if you are craving real BBQ.

“Good food, convenient parking”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

A regular patron. Enjoy the meatloaf. Enjoy the Dixie Chicken sandwich. Chicken was a good size portion on the sandwich. Pickles had good flavor, and I do not usually like pickles. Cheese grits are a nice side dish if you want something not too heavy. Key lime pie was tart. On street parking and also parking behind restaurant. Several blocks from King Street so easier to find parking because of location.
