Description: Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, the Warehouse is one of the area's most popular restaurants specializing in prime aged steaks and fresh seafood. The superb food is served in a casual but elegant atmosphere that features caricatures of the local gentry on the walls of the historic building. Enjoy their Steak "Pontchartrain" or their famous all-lump crab cakes. Don't miss their very popular Sunday brunch. Enjoy a drink at their antique mahogany bar.

“Gumbo Gumbo Gumbo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

Dining out at the Warehouse in Alexandia is really easy. Order a bottle of great wine (either red or white--makes no difference), throw away the menu and order a bowl of Gumbo. That's it. Maybe a salad...but forget the fish (I know it is hard, given the wonderful crawfish crab imperial) but stick with me...gumbo is all you need. They know how to make this stuff--and it qualifies as some of the best north of New Orleans--and not every restaurant in the Big Easy makes great gumbo.

A couple of other items---I would not make it as a waiter there because the Kitchen seems to be upstairs--plenty of opportunity to spill the gumbo on the way down. Service was solid, even through the place was packed...almost too packed. But that is good for the restaurant---

Enjoy

“Good spot for Sunday brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

A bit of New Orleans in Alexandria with excellent food and service. The decor of dark wood with white table cloths and caricatures of DC luminaries on the walls gives it a traditional feel. Great pecan pie and coffee.

“Fantastic”

This was a delight, food was great, waiter was charming. Sat at the front window while the art fair was going on, and not too busy.

“Nothing Special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

We actually ate here twice depsite being just ok. The first was lunch on a Sunday. The food was good, service was very good. One of us had a burger that was heavy and needed flavoring. The second time was for dinner, again the food was ok (pork chops), the service was not as good the second time. The waiter seemed to be crabby. Overall, it's not a bad restaurant. Next time we'd stick to just lunch.

“Walk-ins Welcome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

We dropped in without reservations on a Saturday evening. Waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Prime rib sandwich is a good pick. House salads were crisp and tasty. Wait staff could have been more attentive, but the house was very busy.
