Description: History has been written inside the walls of the Wharf, with its 1790's style architecture featuring original wood columns and beams that are charred black from a Civil War fire. Since 1971, satisfied diners have been heading to The Wharf in Old Town for whole Maine lobster, local soft shell crabs and prime steaks and chops. The restaurant has recently been renovated and remodeled and the menu updated to include many contemporary seafood items along with their traditional Chesapeake Bay creations. Our 2nd floor Dining Room is perfect for Banquets and Private Parties. Can seat up to 60 people.

there were 10 of us for dinner - not too busy of a night. the waiter took our orders...all came but two dinners. the rest of the group were finished with their dinner when the other two dinners came - they were the wrong orders too. Oh well they ate them. waiter admitted the mistake but did not offer anything money decrease or free drink or dessert. the tip was included with the bill - too bad most of us would not have let him anything. the food was good too.

We were on vacation in DC staying in Alexandria and decided to go to King street as we were told to do by many locals. As we made our way down the street we ran into a local who recommended the Wharf restaurant. We walked in with no reservations. The place was full, always a good sign. The hostess sat us quickly and we ordered. Service was great. The sea food was amazing. Price was a bit high, but worth it for the food. Have not had a great sea food dinner like this in a long time.

My wif, daughet and I were walking up King Streel in old Alexander, Va this past Sunday morning at 10:00 am headed to a french bakery we stop at when in town when we walked past The Wharf. We had walked past this restaurant many times on our dozen or so trips to Alexandria but we had never before stopped in. I backed up and asked a waiter if they were open and I am really glad I did. We chose to sit inside although they also have outside seating on King Street. We were waited on immediately by the bar tender who was doing double duty early on a Sunday. We ordered some drinks which were at our table in no time. Mt wife ordered a seafood pot pie and my daughter eggs benedict with seafood. I got a bar b que salmon sandwhich. Everything was delicious and was served in short order. The staff could not have been friendlier. We will never walk past without stopping at least once on our next trip to Old Town.

We took our adult daughter to the Wharf for a birthday dinner on a recent trip to Alexandria. The restaurant is located on King Street in Old Town, in a building that is almost 250 years old. It's full of historical ambiance. When we arrived and the host learned it was a birthday celebration, he took us upstairs to a table by the window overlooking quaint King Street. Food - both steaks and seafood - was very good. Food prices were pretty typical of metro DC better restaurants, but the wine list was surprisingly a bit more moderate in price that what I would have expected. Service was also good and in keeping with a nicer restaurant.

We would definitely go back again for a special occassion.
