Description: History has been written inside the walls of the Wharf, with its 1790's style architecture featuring original wood columns and beams that are charred black from a Civil War fire. Since 1971, satisfied diners have been heading to The Wharf in Old Town for whole Maine lobster, local soft shell crabs and prime steaks and chops. The restaurant has recently been renovated and remodeled and the menu updated to include many contemporary seafood items along with their traditional Chesapeake Bay creations. Our 2nd floor Dining Room is perfect for Banquets and Private Parties. Can seat up to 60 people.

A co-worker and I ate dinner here while at a convention at the Gaylord National. It was a very quaint little place and would be a nice, romantic spot for a couple. I had the filet and crab cakes which was very good. The steak was cooked perfectly. It would have been nice if they served a salad with the meal for the price. My co-worker had stuffed chesapeake flounder, which was excellent. The waiters were always there with more bread and water. I would definitely go back again if in the area.

We have eaten at The Wharf frequently over the last 15 years, and our last visit was typical of our past experiences: we had excellent seafood, with great service by a very pleasant and knowledgeable waiter (Gilberto), in a very charming venue. My calamari appetizer and grilled tuna main course were both delicious. My table mates also enjoyed their appetizers; both of them had the Norfolk combination plate and found it delightful. We had the chance before dinner to rediscover the small bar, which, despite its cramped dimensions, made for a delightful watering hole as we waited for our table. We definitely plan to return when next we visit Alexandria.

The crab cakes at this restaurant are OUTSTANDING! Their prices are some of the most reasonable on King Street with a wealth of menu options. The wait staff was personable and provided outstanding service. I ate the crab cakes there almost 10 years ago and they set the standard of excellence for crab cakes ever since. Ate there again to see if they were as good as I remembered and they were even better. Huge chunks of crab held together only by deliciousness!

We stopped here for lunch just after we arrived in Alexandria, tired from a travel day. The She Crab soup was absolutely fantastic, as was the crab cake. Our server was friendly and answered our questions about the area, since we had just arrived. The meal was so memorable that we went back tonight for our last dinner before leaving tomorrow. Tried the lump crab stuffed flounder and it was nice- very delicate and a big portion. My husband had the scallop and lobster au gratin and I thought he
Was going to like his plate!

Had a great dinner at Wharf the other night! We were greeted at the door and immediately seated in a quirky, but charming restaruant! Our waiter, Teo, was charming, elegant, and very outgoing! He was a delight. Service was good. Our food was very tasty. Had heard and read about the crab cakes. They did not disappoint! My wife said they were perhaps the best she's had, and thats coming from someone who has spent a good part of her life in New England!

A night or 2 later, after dining nearby at a very disappointing restaraunt, we stopped into the Wharf to get some desert to go. We were greeted at the door by Teo, who remembered us.
He took us into the bar area where to go orders are taken. We were introduced to Brian the bartender. While we waited on our desert, we had very pleasant conversation with Brian and A woman who was obviously a regular at the Wharf. We were even treated to a sample size free drink!
By far our best Alexandria, Va dining experience so far!!!!!!
