Referred here by friends. Yes it's a tourist place, but was so worth it. Pasta primavera was delicious. Fresh crisp veggies with perfectly cooked pasta. Husband had sausage and peppers over pasta, loved every bit of it. VERY PICKY aunt loved her dinner. Forgot the name, but had chicken and eggplant. She hates everything but she ate every bit. Wait staff could smile more, but other than that, would definitely return if in the area.

This is a nice Old Town restaurant and the food was good. However, they state that their recipes are from Northern Italy. Northern Italy is known for pesto and they didn't have even 1 pesto dish, which disappointed me. I live in the neighborhood and will go back, but I do hope they add pesto to the menu!!

Yes, this is a tourist area and this restaurant by default is a tourist attraction, but being tourists, we just looked for a place around King Street that had appealing menu items and a decent ambience. This place had both, and we were surprised with how tasty our meals were. Our server was very helpful in recommending items that suited our preferences. We lingered over our late lunch on a sprinkling day outside. We found the decor to be cozy, warm, and interesting. If the menu appeals to you, I would recommend this place.

In the heart of Old Town Alexandria on King Stree. So delicious ate here two nights over 4 day stay in the area. Not crowded and food far surpasses other Italian restaurants we've tried in the past. Menu changes with what's fresh. Can't go wrong with seafood dishes... outstanding! Good size portions as well

Il Porto looks like it would, and it should, be an enjoyably authentic high end Italian dining experience. Instead, it is one of the most touristy pretenses on the admittedly somewhat touristy King Street, There are many other & better alternatives that offer much better food and service and won't charge a king's ransom for doing so. The service is rather brusque, as if you are imposing upon the staff for taking up a table. Our waiter was nice enough until no one at our table of six declined to order a bottle or more of wine and only two of the six ordered one glass each. From then on, it was as if the margins on us were not worth their time and effort and we were overcharged on some menu items, treated with condescending carelessness, and at least one of our party asked if they had changed the menu item from lobster ravioli to ravioli without lobster. This place could really use an infusion of service remedial training and fresh menu items. Go elsewhere unless you want to have a subpar experience.
