Excellent service, unique atmosphere, reasonable price, great portions, food was ok. Healthy selection of vegetables and unique foods you don't see everyday.

“Amazing Service and Food”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

We loved Casablanca. Great atmosphere and great service. Loved our waiter and staff. They were very friendly. We ordered the Petite Feast which was anything but petite. There was so much food we had to take it to our hotel and ate our appetizer for breakfast the next morning. We started out with a soup that was lentils and rice, then the appetizer which was amazing, our main course was chicken with onions and raisins which was cooked perfectly. The last course which was difficult to eat with all the food given was the mint tea and cookies. The only disappointment is that we got there after the entertainment was over. Great place to go while visiting Alexandria!

“Solid lunch buffet”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

I eat at Casablanca about once every other week as it's close to the office and it has a relatively inexpensive lunch buffet. There are lots of good vegetarian items on the buffet and they mix in a lot of good chicken, lamb, and beef dishes too. The service is good. Not the nicest place inside, and although unspectacular I'd recommend it for a quiet lunch.

“Ungifted Amareurs”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

We ate here on Saturday, May 19. We got the “Petite Feast” which the menu claims has five courses. I guess the bread counts as one course. We got the Harira Soup, the Bastilla appetizer, the lamb with harrisa sauce, and the final “pastry” and mint tea. First, the service is very disorganized with waiters going here and there, usually carrying one thing (and making several trips where one would have sufficed) and paying attention to nothing. The harira soup was an overcooked mélange with little taste, though it was filling. The bastilla appetizer had a filling that looked as though it had been pureed in a blender and then had a few nuts added. It was covered with phyllo and cooked. It was then drowned in powdered sugar and cinnamon. I have had Moroccan cooking elsewhere and eaten phyllo-covered chicken. It is usually dusted with a bare sprinkling of powdered sugar and cinnamon. This was so sweet it could have been dessert. The filling was tasteless except for more cinnamon. The lamb was two lamb shanks reasonably cooked and with a sauce that had some moderately hot peppers in it. Not bad. The “pastry” turned out to be a tasteless white cookie again assaulted with a mound of powdered sugar, The real insult was the check. It included an “automatic gratuity,” though there was only two of us. When the credit card slip came, they had thoughtfully removed the restaurant check, perhaps in hopes that I would forget the “automatic gratuity.” There was, of course, a blank on the charge slip of a tip. LOL, Casablanca. With a scam like that, and the food which ranged from mediocre to bad, we won’t be back.

“stale lunch”
Reviewed December 31, 2011

I love Moroccan food, but this place has a bland and overcooked lunch buffet. Although cheap, it is still not worth a visit for lunch. Have never tried dinner, so can't comment on food which is prepared to order.
