“Gazpacho was awesome ”
Reviewed July 7, 2014 via mobile

The gazpacho soup with an IPA was a nice combination. We was able to get a table by the Window and the Alexandria steamboat just outside.

“Great Location, goodish food”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

Booked table on line, but could not reserve window seats as that is against their policy on line. Stillquickly shown to a table with a panoramic view of a busy Potomac river.
Promptly received ice water and menus, enthusiastic waiter keen to point out what is best, although that seemed to be everything we chose; perhaps just diplomacy.
Daughters humus with plantain leaves was ok- the leaves were toasted and while pretty they were pronounced horrid to eat. My gazpacho was very imaginative, but a small portion in a large glass. Chilli sea bass was perfectly cooked but the sauce was light on chilli and heavy on sugar, so not great for the high price. Scallops were better. My side of creamed spinach was brilliant, and the side dish was far bigger than my portion of fish.
Service was not fast, but just in time.

However the restaurant has a serious problem with the rest rooms/toilets. My wife found a large queue of ladies before her and could not use the facility. We complained to the staff who admitted they have no control on people from the prominade using it as a public facility, so this is a common problem. That is simply not acceptable when you have just had an expensive meal and have to find another facility. They must find a solution urgently, perhaps a key pad or token for diners, or if they want to offer a public facility build more toilets. That spoiled the meal for us, and until this is fixed I recommend avoiding this restaurant.

“Terrific Meal”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

My wife and I went to the Chart House Alexandria VA on Sat June 28. After a delicious appetizer of shrimp cocktail, she had swordfish and I had flounder stuffed with crabmeat. We had asian green beans and sizzling mushrooms as side dishes. Everything was terrific. Although we did not have a window seat, we were still close to the windows and had a great panoramic view of the Potomac River. If there was a negative to the experience, it was our waiter. A nice enough guy, but difficult to understand as English was not his first language. I would encourage the Chart House to ensure all their waiters speak clear English. While expensive, it was a really good meal and we would go back again for special occasions.

“Perfect Location”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

Visiting Arlington, just for one night. Our friends took us to the Chart House Restaurant. We had a reservation but that didn't matter when we asked to sit outside. (TIP 1) if you want to sit outside make sure you let them know when you make your reservation. Drinks were way overpriced. (TIP 2) don't drink unless you can afford the sky high prices. We stuck to the appetizers. (TIP 3) we sampled six of the appetizers and they were all really, really good Perfect location sitting right on the water. I'd recommend it if you only have one night in Old Town Arlington.

“Just not up to par.”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

We specifically chose the Chart House for a lovely night dining on the water. We have been to the Weehawken NJ location on many occasion and had good meals.

We had made a reservation, and were told to inquire when we arrived about outdoor seating, only to find that outdoor was going to be a 45+ minute wait, even with a reservation. We ate inside. There were 6 of us dining. Out of our 6 entrees that we chose (2 of which were kids meals) 3 of them were out of stock, and that was after being told the scallops were out before we ordered. We were left ordering entrees that we really didn't want to have, and CH is not a cheap restaurant, so we were paying for food that wasn't what we were looking for.

When the meals did arrive, two of the orders were incorrect.

We inquired with the manager, who held up his hands and simply said I'm sorry, and walked away.

They did try to make things good by adjusting our bill for some of our appetizers, which we did appreciate. Our server Lou was as good as he could be, but he obviously was working against a series of problems that was out of his control.

It was an overall breakdown of the system & management of the restaurant. Made for a stressful meal.
