It was the 4th(maybe 5th) day of our travels in and around Dc and The Hard Times Cafe was just what we needed! We loved the sampler, and even for a bunch of carnivores, we liked the vegetarian type chili the best. The 8 of us all had something different from chili-dogs, to Frito Pie, to a salad with chili on it. Great "twist" on an old favorite. The staff is AWESOME and willing to make your meal the very best. Give it a try for a change of pace.

Thank Sisugal

The chili was great, loved the sampler so we could try the different chili's out. Our waitress was terrific, kept on checking on us. Hated to get to the bottom of my bowl.

This is the first place we ate when we got to Alexandria, and we were hungry. Maybe that helped everything taste so good. They have 4 different kinds of chili and will bring you samples to try before you order. They serve the chili on practically everything. Their onion rings were excellent, obviously made in-house. I had cheeseburger sliders and fries. Excellent all the way around. We sat upstairs in where there are 5 TV's on one wall, and enjoyed the sports bar atmosphere.

Found this great place on a stroll down king street in old town and loved it. Two teen kids insisted on returning the next night for dinner also. They let you sample their four chili recipes and then cover burgers, tater tots, corn chips, cornbread whatever you desire with the chili you choose. Homemade onion rings are great.

Stop in to Hard Times for lunch today. Mostly because of the positive trip advisor reviews, and was not disappoint. Carol my awesome waitress brought me over a chili flight. So I could taste the different kind of chili's they serve. It was very tasty. I ended up ordering a cheese burger that was good.
