The food is okay - yes, the chili is good, but the fries are sometimes burned, there's not much else if someone in your party doesn't like chili.. The service is spotty, the place is cramped and noisy.

We were staying a few blocks away and were looking for a fairly simple meal after a day of walking our feet off. Service was friendly and efficient. I don't eat chili and my husband didn't care for any of the samples. But I ordered the strip steak and he got the salmon. Both were excellent. We also really liked the cheesecake we shared for dessert. The fresh cut fries were perfect. Prices were reasonable. We would return.

Had the frito bowl with the sweet chili. Flavors were great, only complaint was the temp of the chili. Once you mix in the chips, sour cream, cheese and onions, the chili is barely warm. Simple fix, I just ate it fast!

When the bride and I sat down out waitress immediately came over to take out drink orders and explained the menu, indicating that she would bring us a sampler of the four types of chili. Outstanding, each one; the only problem was deciding which one was best for that day. I ended up with a bowl of the Terlingua Red and the bride had two chilidogs with the Cincinnati. The waitress didn't mention the mountain of french fries that comes with the chilidogs! The chilis come with cornbread; the real downhome stuff. This was an incredibly filling meal at a very reasonable price and the service was outstanding.

This original location of a local chili chain was the right, laid-back spot for us after a day of tiring touring. The service is attentive and cordial - our waitress was very nice and, as this was our first time visiting, started us with their free chili sampler. The atmosphere and decor is proudly no-frills, and that's just fine. The chili itself, however, was average. They have four kinds: Texas, Cincinnati, Terlingua Red and Vegetarian. Surprisingly, the best taste belonged to the Veggie, as the meat in the rest was rather bland. There are others selections on the menu, however, from burgers to salads to chili mac to wraps to hot dogs. If you're you need easy, late-night dining in Alexandria, this spot will do.
