“Needs Work”

Inattentive service with a somewhat tired menu puts the Evening Star on the over-rated list. While the food was OK, the lack of service made the meal frustrating. The neighborhood around the Evening Star is full of restaurants. I'd recommend giving some of the other local eateries a chance.

“Great ambiance, awsome beer, average food and service”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

We sat outside in what is truly a great decor, the beer menu was creative and exceptional. Service was OK, although they did get our order initially wrong (quickly corrected) and we had to ask 3 times for silver ware after the salad was brought. I found the fish and chips way to greasy, but the wings were pretty good. We will probably go back, but not for the food

“The downfall of evening star”
Reviewed September 5, 2013 via mobile

For over a decade, evening star was a favorite and we were weekly regulars. Even though the service was always terrible, the food made it up for it. Things changed about a year ago when the menu went to "southern" cuisine. Big mistake. The food is gross and the portions are small (given the price). The service remains awful...slow, rude wait staff that without fail, mess up orders. The silver lining remains the back bar...good drinks and friendly bartenders. Bring back the almond-crusted brie!

“Good food slow service”
Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

We went for Sunday brunch. Inside was sort of noisy so we say outside. It was nicer than inside. Menu was limited for brunch. The chicken and waffles were good. The egg bacon and cheese sandwich was good but nothing extraordinary. The service was slow tho. Three tables sat after us and got served before we did including coffee and water.

“Awesome brunch”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

These guys have a really, really good brunch. Currently my favorite in the DC area. Sadly, their dinner menu just doesn't do it for my wife or me. After the second time we had dinner there (the pimiento poppers brought us back-wife loves pimiento cheese) we decided to stick with the brunch. I gave the, three stars because their brunch is as good as they come, but the dinner menu is thoroughly below average.
