A wonderful place to walk, some woods, some wetlands. Limited parking. Off the "beaten track" but a very short distance from U.S. 1. Favorite of birders. Small exhibition area in visitors center. That's where the restrooms are and it is not open every day. The park is free.
3701 Lockheed Blvd., Alexandria, VA 22306. Check the website for special events. fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/huntley-meadows-park/

A really nice walk around the park through wetlands and woods. The visitors center is well done and the staff is very friendly. They ask for donations and they deserve them. A favorite walking place for locals.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and the trail through the wetlands was so neat for the kids. Our group especially liked the tall platform where you can look out over the wetlands. The gift shop and indoor exhibit were also really great for small kids. Would definitely go back to see the different seasonal animals.

Every visit is different and we have seen many different type of turtles, ducks, frogs, herons... It is great place for photography. The visitors center is very nice. We are lucky to have such a park in the middle of the city. Great conservation project.

Huntley Meadows is a combination of paths through woods, and wooden walkways over a swamp with lots of beavers, herons, geese, etc. There is also a visitors center, and it is great for kids because they do moonlight classes on frog hunting and other things, There is always someone hanging around to explain the different kinds of duck weed. There is also an observation platform. I enjoy going there at any chance.
