Description: Cafe Shiraz, located in Bradlee Shopping Center, is Alexandria's newest and tastiest Mediterranean style kabob restaurant. Located just east of I-395 on King Street, come in and treat yourself to an authentic tasting kabob. Whether you feel like beef, chicken, seafood or even veggie, the kabobs will be fresh and delicious. Enjoy a nice glass of wine while dining in or call in your order ahead of time for carry out.

We tried this place on a whim the other night and were pleasantly surprised. Although the atmosphere/ambience is very simple, basic colors with barely anything on the walls, we attributed this to the fact that it is still a very new place which is getting its identity established. Our server was a delight - easily giving recommendations and menu explanations in a friendly & courteous manner. Our server warned us that, because all items are prepared to order, there would be a bit of a wait. As we were not in a rush, this was fine - and we ordered a nice bottle of Shiraz in the meantime! We had the combination mezze appetizer plate, followed by a greek salad and a combination skewer plate (1 ground beef and one lamb) served with their basmati rice. The portions were big, the ingredients fresh and the food tasty. We feel that with more time, the kitchen will find its rhythm and the decor will expand. It's nice to have a Middle Eastern place so close to us and we will return!

I really wanted to like this restaurant -- Middle Eastern food in a lovely restaurant in a convenient location. Fresh ingredients, reasonably priced -- what's not to like?

There is nothing NOT to like but there is nothing especially TO like either. Everything is bland with no personality. The interior of the restaurant is done in perfect wood with beautiful furniture but it looks too much like a model home with no real personality or insights as to who is running the place.

The server was okay but bland too. Asked only the barest questions of us and gave monosyllabic responses to our questions about certain dishes. Again, no personality.

The food was fresh but incredibly bland. It looked good but just did not have the right combination of spices. The appetizer sampler platter seemed to have been sitting in the refrigerator with the felafel warmed perhaps in a toaster oven? No personality there

If you are not familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine this would be a safe and innocuous choice. If you want to try real Middle Eastern food, visit Bread and Kabob in Falls Church!
