The ceviche was outstanding and the Puerto Rican sucking pork is a must have.

“Great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012

My husband and I happened upon this place during a visit to Alexandria and we were excited since we had eaten at a similar place in San Juan. We had dinner there and everything was very tasty. My husband had the grouper and I had a cerviche sampler. We also ordered empanadas, tostones and arepitas. It was all delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely return when in the area!

“Very good food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2012

We stopped by in the late afternoon just as this place was opening. It serves Latin American and Caribbean food. The service was prompt and courteous and our food was very, very good. We were there on a Tuesday and noticed that the bottles of wine were one half price on Tuesdays. We ordered a bottle of Argentinean wine and listened to some good music while eating. It was quite a wonderful dining experience.

“Excellent Mohitos!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2012

We loved this restaurant when it was Cafe Salsa. The new Aqua Viva continues to serve classic Latin American food, but the drinks are the highlight. The classic mohito was excellent, but my husband's Top Shelf was superb! Same great salsa dip and hip new Miami decor.

A nice escape for lunch. We'll be back!

“Latin Food With Flair”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2012

We happened upon Aqua Viva just recently while looking for an early dinner in Old Towne Alexandria and we were most pleased we did. It was like nothing else in the "Latin food" scene and is most aptly described by others as "Miami Fusion." Although everthing on the menu looked great, we could barely get past the ceviches but we took one for the team and did.

Oh, and did I say they also serve Caipirinhas? Oh my. A wonderfully refreshing drink.

One item that I would hope they improve one is the chairs. They are small and not the most comfortable. If one is going, I would recommend sitting in one of the booths.
