We are Hilton Honors members and redeemed some points to get a free stay - we are so glad that we did. This property is perfect in every way! We are very picky travelers and this by far surpassed our expectations. Easy check in - great full breakfast each morning (everything you could want in a hot breakfast) - nice pool, clean and comfortable rooms, comfy beds, nice reception each evening, easy and free access to many things. Free internet stations in the lobby making it a breeze to book tours or print off boarding passes. The location is the best - only two stops from the Reagan Int' Airport metro to King St and the hotel is right across the street. Great views of the city and the George Washington Masonic Memorial across the street (take the free tour - the view from the top is AMAZING)! The free King Street trolley will pick you up at the Metro (across the street) and will take you downtown to the waterfront of Alexandria for great restaurants and cute shops - (you must take this ride - it is something you will never forget)! We were able to book a tour right at the front desk of the hotel - a bus will pick you up at the lobby and take you downtown to see the monuments. You must see the DC Nights tour - amazing!!!! Only $35 per adult and worth every penny. Also, the Tourmobile tour can be taken with a pickup at Arlington (right off the Metro) for $35 for two days - this is the way to go - many stops at your own pace and most of the memorials are free of charge to go in. Very reasonable vacation and a must see - you will be wanting to go back-----TRUST ME!

Great place to stay when visiting D.C.

Metro Blue and Yellow line are cross the street (direct lines into D.C). Easy access to 495/95 (if you want to drive)

Over all clean and fairly modern hotel in a very nice (and safe) area.

It is situated at the end of King Street which is the main street running through Old Town. A 10-15minute walk will put you in the heart of King Street. Great, unique shops, restaurants, etc. The ES shuttle van is great! They will drop you off or pick you up anywhere in Old Town. There is a also a free trolley that runs up and down King, although the shuttle van was much easier for us (3 kid and a stroller). A friend stayed at the Hilton next door and they do not have a shuttle.

Great breakfast, Pat the short order cook is very fast. The "happy hour" was a little weak.

Cons:

Small pool, but at least it has a pool.

FD staff where a little weak. Not rude and if you asked them for something they were fairly repsonsive. But they did not offer much up nor where they very knowledgable about the area/hotel.

Overall we were very happy with this ES and would definitely stay here again wshen visiting DC

Our family is two adults and four kids under the age of twelve.

Our first trip to the Washington D.C. went perfectly as I happened to use Trip Advisor and went with this hotel.

I always contact the hotel direct and talk to staff. This time I was very fortunate to contact a woman named Margaret Terry. Although the hotel does not have a concierge, this operator takes an intrest in helping people.

I had never met this woman but she turned out to be a travel agent and concierge for the area and hotel. She gave advice as to what to visit, the times to visit and hop the Metra, great eateries and places to shop and some of the best sites to see in the Washington D.C. area. She arranged a tour and made our visit to Washington D.C. something great to remember. She loves helping people, so ask for her if your unfamiliar with the area as we were.

The dislikes, the pool is really small for the size of this hotel, but we didn't go to the area for swimming.
The managers reception is more like eat our munchies and snacks....over and over each day. They change one thing out of about seven items each day.
That's it though.

The good,
Large room with double beds and a sleeper sofa, fridge and microwave. We stocked up at a nearby grocery store for the after hour munchies.
Very cold and great working airconditioner in room 515.
Across the street from the Metra, which is two stops from the airport. No car is necessary with the great train and bus service.
Free trolley running from across the street to Old Town where great eateries and shopping is door to door.
Free USA today everyday it's published.
Great money saving breakfasts every morning.
Free shuttle service to some great eateries.
Very friendly help, but no bellhops
Nice business center, ATM and Duke's restaurant on the premises.
Felt safe, quiet even though our room was on the train side. The kids loved watching amtrak, metra, trollies, buses and taxi's all out front of the hotel.
Great T.V. selection for the kids and all items worked. The rooms were very clean and we did not meet anyone at the hotel that was not anxious to help.
Downtown Washington and Mount Vernon and everything we wanted to see was easily accessible from this hotel.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Before going to a family wedding in Virginia we visited DC for 6 days and chose to stay at Embassy Suites in Alexandria. After long days of walking around DC hopping on the Metro and arriving steps from the hotel was invaluable. That alone is worth the price.
We found the rooms to be clean, the hotel staff very friendly especially the staff that brought up our room service. We read other reviewers talk about the noise, but we found it to be a very quite place to sleep, and the bed was so comfortable!
We ate lunch at Duke's and thought their food was excellent.
The breakfast each morning was huge and filled us up for our excursions to the city. We only made 2 manager happy hours, but they were just fine.
all in all, we would come back to Alexandria and especially to this Embassy Suites. We found nothing to complain about. yes, the parking lot is tight, but we parked once and didn't use our car again until we left town. The Metro and our feet was all we needed.

Just got back from staying at this hotel May 17-19. We took home more than memories. All 3 of our kids are covered with red dots on their torso and other body parts. Apparently this is called "hot tub rash". Neither I nor my husband went into the hot tub, so we are rash free. The hotel itself was fine, what you would expect. The decor, location and staff were nice. I will say that the pool staff was not very accomodating when we complained that the pool itself was very chilly. As a result, people were getting into the hot tub to warm up. Never did we see the "lifeguard" or "engineer" test the water while we were at the pool. Lots of kids were in there. Clearly they need to do a better job of making sure the pool and hot tub are chlorinated enough to kill off any pesky microbes, like the ones that nibbled on my kids. YUCK!
