“Nice Box Where They Keep The Bed.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

If you are taking a family trip to DC without spending major bucks, I'm not sure there's a better place to stay. The Embassy Suites is literally across the street from the Metro, giving you a twenty-minute ride into the heart of the capital.

Our room was big and comfortable for a family of five. The breakfast was free and good. And, within a couple of blocks, was a nice variety of restaurants and shops.

Minor quibble kept this from being five stars. But on the whole, I'd recommend it without reservation to a vacationing family.

This was our first time at this hotel. The breakfast, room, and bar staff were wonderful. They were all polite and made us feel very welcome. The front desk staff were polite, but can definitely pick up a hospitality tip from them. The rooms were clean and very quiet. We stayed on the same side as the metro, but didn't notice any sound of the trains night or day. The location of the hotel was great! The metro to ride into DC is right across the street. The staff there were also very nice and helped us plan our trips each day. In the evenings, make sure to walk around the surrounding area. There is a whole foods for shopping or some nice places to grab dinner. The parking in the garage is a little tight and costs $26/day, however, in this area, that is to be expected. Overall, it was a nice stay and we will definitely be returning. Embassy Suites is my family's favorite and first choice when we travel and this one did not disappoint.

This hotel experience was outstanding! The service was excellent, the rooms were spacious and clean, and the complimentary breakfast included made to order hot breakfast items. The location is in walking distance of small businesses and restaurants.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years. The recent updates and changes have been great. Parking is great, Staff is great, evening reception and morning breakfast are great. Amenties are great. I am surprised the bathrooms haven't been updated through the years. Our bathroom was in poor condition and the fixtures were starting to show their age. My only negative was the bathroom in our very nice large room.

Room Tip: Get the "executive" king suite - they are larger than the normal king suites - worth the u...

My wife and I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Old Town for 2 nights and we loved it. When arriving at the hotel for check in we could barely pull into the front area and just know it is very small. We have a Camry and with 2 other cars parked there it was hard to pull in.

Check in went smooth. We had a nice room on the 5th floor with a good size living area and a large bedroom. As a Hilton HHonors Gold member who has stayed at various Embassy's it was the nicest room at all the ones I have been to. Plus the couch is a sleeper sofa which makes it easy to add another body if needed.

Note that I read mixed messages on whether there was an executive floor for Gold and Diamond members and we were told there was not.

The location is great. It is literally across the street from the King Street Metro station which makes getting into DC very easy. It is about 20 blocks to the potomac along King Street. It is an easy walk down there with plenty of awesome shops and restaurants along the way. I lived in the DC area for 8 years and spending some time in Old Town made me really miss the area.

The continental breakfast overall was very good. You can get a hot breakfast made to order at the grill station or there is a buffett line. It does get crowded for breakfast so plan accordingly. We got there about 7:30 both mornings we were there and didn't have trouble getting a table. About 1/2 hour later it was a little harder.

Overall all the staff we encountered from the front desk staff, to the bartender, to breakfast staff, to gift shop staff, to housekeepers, were all very friendly and helpful.

A quick note about parking. It is $26 per night which is a little steep but I guess that is what it is around there. Please note that the parking garage is VERY tight. The spaces are tiny and there are a couple very sharp turns to get into hotel parking area so be very careful if you park there. Once we parked we didn't move the car until we left.

Overall a great stay and next time we visit the area we will definitely stay at the Embassy again.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are indeed anxiously awaiting the room case updates which will take place at the end of 2013. This will undoubtedly bring about a well-deserved face lift, to our already spacious and convenient rooms. Although the parking spaces for the hotel were selected for the ease of entry to the hotel, they can be challenging at times, due to the support columns located on that level. Understanding that the little things sometimes make the stay, we sincerely hope that you may allow us another opportunity to service you in 2014, after our renovations and allow us to change your perception of our hotel. Best Regards…MaryAnne Russell General Manager

As father of the bride, I hosted a wedding for my daughter at the nearby Carlyle Club and stayed at this hotel for three nights. I was one of the best hotels that I have stayed in for the following reasons:

Quiet sleeping. The design of the suites puts the living room area in the front(public side) and the bedroom in the rear. You therefore have a one room buffer between the corridor and you sleeping area so you do not hear people and banging of doors all night long which is typical of most hotels.

Consistent HVAC. It is a built in system and does not cycle on and off during the night .. just provides a background blower which also helps with a quiet nights sleep.

Very good breakfast. A wide selection of foods from cereal (hot and cold) to fruit to eggs, potatoes, sausage, and my favorite corned beef hash awaited us in the large atrium each morning. Included are made to order omelets and pancakes and lots of other choices. It was a roomy pleasant way to connect to the other wedding guests who were staying there.
