“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

We were here a few days before Easter and found Christ Church to be a beautiful old church with a number of interesting features. George Washington worshiped there, and you can sit in his box pew. There is a beautiful high pulpit. The wonderful guide who was on duty let us go up in it and take a picture. It was fun. The large windows bathe the sanctuary in a sunny glow. Well worth a look.

“Do not miss Christ Church!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

We were so welcomed here. The docent could not have been nicer; she welcomed us in, told us the whole history of the church, had us sit in the Washington's pew, etc. She was great with my Middle School aged kids, who were very interested in everything she had to say. Don't miss the walk around the cemetery outside. Most of all, don't miss this stop on your tour of Alexandria!

“Washington went here”

Nice to see where Washington and Lee went to church. Tough to get a good external picture, suggest from rear of property.

“Worth a Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

Beautiful little James Wren colonial church with well kept grounds. One certainly gets the sense of it's historical significance when visiting the church. It is neat to see George Washington's pew and know that other notables worshiped here. Definitely worth a stop while in Old Town.

“Paradise for a history geek like me”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

Christ Church is a still operating Episcopal parish where George Washington and his family worshiped and where Robert E. Lee was baptized. I felt the same amazing sense of history as when I entered Old North Church in Boston. WOW. Talked for awhile to a friendly docent, knelt at the altar and prayed for a moment, taking it all in. The grounds are beautiful and while the gift shop is kind of hard to find, it's filled with all matter of little treasures, not the usual tourist junk.
