“Cheers! feel”

Great home town bar. I am from out of town, however, I visit DC often and TJ's is my favorite pub/restaurant. Great service (to include phoning your food order in if you will arrive later than the kitchen's close at midnight). Even better food (try the salmon and if you are on a cal free day; definitely go for the bacon wrapped meatloaf). Lots of flat screens to watch the latest current events to include sports and news. Highly recommended.

“Good Wings, 3x Dipped”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

Stopped in for the UFC fight hosted on Saturday night. A very friendly staff that served up some delicious wings that were dipped three times in sauce for a one of a kind style to dressing up wings, that I ordered another platter just for myself. Served with ranch and veggies and a side of great hospitality a must to revisit and enjoy again.

“Cold beer and great ribs - very friendly service”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

After a late flight cancellation due to weather (that grounded all planes leaving DC), we were thrilled to find a hotel room near Reagan National and to find T.J. Stone's opened for food and beverage service after 11 p.m.

Our waitress / bartender was very knowledgeable about the brew offerings (which numbered > 100 choices) and took our food orders without any note-taking. After 3 hours sitting on the tarmac in a sweat-box airplane that never took off, we were admittedly very thirsty and hungry when we arrived at TJ's and would have settled for almost anything. It was an absolute thrill to have such friendly and efficient service, delicious food and soothing suds to wash it all down.

“Good food and service”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

It's always interesting to note the range of reviews and this restaurant has them. This restaurant was close to our lodging, so it became our standard stop for meals. Here's what we liked about it. In our several visits to the establishment, our service was always good. On one visit we noted that the number of staff relative to the customers was low and therefore the staff had to hustle to keep up. Nevertheless, the staff worked hard to keep us happy. We found a good selection of food items and we especially liked their salads. And for those who like a variety of choices for libations, this is your place. One downside for some people may be the fireplace. We liked sitting by it for the atmosphere, but fireplaces can have issues and one morning there was a draft problem. However, this was not a consistent problem during our several visits. All in all, I can confidently recommend this restaurant for good food, good service, good choices of libations, and reasonable prices.

“Good for a beer and a football game, nothing else!”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Great atmosphere to sit and have a drink and watch a football game, but that's it. The food is just bad. Sweet potato fries are extremely salty (too salty to even eat!), chicken tenders are bland and stuck to the stick, pasta sauces loaded with sugar and are too sweet to eat, plates of food are heavy and over-loaded, and often one item is hot while the others are cold (as if they loaded the plate with the sides, then waited for the main entree to finish). We've eaten there many times because it's within walking distance of our home, and were disappointed every time, often having to send food back as over-cooked, cold, wrong order, under-cooked, always something. The cook just doesn't know what he's doing, and the menu is strange.

They have a beautiful fireplace that's nice when it's lit on a cold night. The service is hit-or-miss, depending on who you get. They seem to be overwhelmed no matter how few customers are in the dining area, and the wait staff is often flustered and obviously stressed and too frazzled to be friendly or attentive. The last visit there was salvaged only by the floor manager who was picking up the slack for our sub-par waiter that just couldn't get his act together.

If the food was better we could tolerate the poor service, but with unreliable dishes coming out of the kitchen and not-so-great service on top of it, I can't rate them any higher than I did. It's a shame, because the location is great and the facility is really nice.
