Yes, Washington DC is all about walking your feet off !
Been here many times, too many, but never get tired of the nation's Capitol.
The cruise up/down the muddy Potamic is so different that is shouldn't be missed.
To see Washingon from the river is how dignitaries arrived before trains. Go under the bridges we cross frequently to the airport, Arlington, etc; see the steps behind the Lincoln Memorial, see the other side of the tidal basin, etc.
Approach Georgetown from the water; revel in the improved park areas, people watch, walk up the hill to Georgetown for a meal. Approach Alexandra for the revoluntary architecture, many small & quaint eateries. See the former torpedo factory converted to artist workshops. People watch.
Bottom line (for me at least): see Washington from a different vantage point. Maybe don't do this at first it eventually do this cruise (on a nice day) .... you won't be sorry.
